Crawl Space Clean Out & Vapor Barrier Installation

We got the job! The client decided to go with just a Vapor Barrier installation and crawl space disinfectant and clean out. Basically I removed all the junk and the old vapor barrier. Fogged the crawl with a disinfectant and cleaned the areas with heavy growth and installed a new vapor barrier and hauled off the trash. Pretty simple 1 day job.

What kind of vapor barrier is this? I would like to do something simple like this myself.

I'd love to have a crawl space that was that high! I've got two rehabs right now that both need this and I'd have 12 inches of space in most places. How do you deal with that?

What’s the difference between the black, white and clear barrier material?

Just color, lighter colors look better in a crawl space but black will look better in the long run because it shows less dirt.

@@AAAExterminatingCo What brand of chemicals do you recommend killing, cleaning and protection from crawl space mold. I have a main beam under my house where the builder didn’t cover under it with barrier paper. I’m going to use a HEPA vacuum and start cleaning it in the next 2 weeks. My above ground pool was leaking last winter, and from the Climax area!

What kind of tape did you use for the seams?

jd john it’s called seam tape. Specifically designed for plastic.

If they are involved in Termites. Crawl space moisture is highly conducive to termites and other pest so part of the control is getting the moisture under control

how do you get around the tiers? put plastic up to it cut around then a new sheet on other side?

We use one piece and wrap it. As we wrap we cut a slit at the bottom on the turns. I might make a video showing how we do it
