CRAWL SPACE ENTRY STEPS. How to build.

Hey all. In this video, I'm letting you in on a recent home improvement project going on at our property. I show a fairly straight forward way to build step/ladder for a crawl space foundation. Check it out and hopefully this will help and inspire someone to try this for themselves.

Those cross by pieces need to be doubled up as should the joists on either side of the joist you chopped out. Do not use screws to secure those cross joists, screws have way less shear strength than nails. You should actually use double 2x hangers.

I appreciate that Gary. Something you might not see from the camera angle is that the joists are supported by 6" steel channel about 6' on center which I figured made the joist on each side of the opening fairly well supported. The hex head screws I used were structural but I do see what you're saying sheer strength wise. Thanks for the insights!
