I'm not a man in a shed, but a man in a man cave/pc gaming room/workshop/Lego room, just an all around fun place to be, placed in a basement. Same, but different. :D I'm really happy they worked as well for you as they have for me. I did design them, and redesign them a few times, based on what I saw in your Injora pin review video. I honestly didn't consider which of your rigs they would go on, but I did design them to work on a rig somewhere in the 2.5-3.5kg range. The nice thing is I can tweak them to be a stiffer than yours are, but the set you have is about as soft as they can go without losing some side wall support.

I’ve been following your channel for quite a while, but first time commenting…you’re a bad influence(according to my wife)! Not having a 3D printer, the silicone inserts have piqued my interest and I’ve started experimenting with them. The cost of the 3D printed inserts are extremely prohibitive, especially with continuously modding current rigs, and gathering parts for the next project. It’s kind of a budget-friendly,non-rtr based, that’s inspired by a few of your builds/assemblies. I appreciate the way you make your content and time you put into it; both entertaining and informative…thanks, from the Great White North

How about the rotational mass controversy VS the non-rotational? Is it more better to have non-rotational front bias ballists?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 10 ай бұрын
Rotational mass is to be avoided when possible-- but the problem is, it's so damn cheap. Heavy wheels, brass rings, hub weights-- all easy to machine, so cheaper for us to buy. Performance-wise, it's not optimal. That's why you see the super-compy Sporty guys on CF wheels with tungsten-filled pendulum weights. But they're building axles that cost more than an entire RTR.

First birds don't exist, and now Michigan? WHERE DOES IT END? 😂😂 I could see some custom stickers of some the classic deep-cut Canyon jokes. Just an MI sticker with that red circle and cross through it, a little pile of beans for giving it the beans, a welcome back :)

What I do with those pin tires now this is on the smaller stuff is I cut all the rows of two off show on the smaller tires on each side that goes 3 2 3 2 far as the rose and I cut each roll of 2 out so I'll cut a role on the right go to the left go down one road and cut that one so like a staggered pattern and I have seen a huge performance upgrade let's say over what they was even know they're so good just the way they are
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 10 ай бұрын
I wouldn't cut these at this size-- the lugs are firm enough to give traction without flopping over. I think cut lugs on the 120s would make for too much work for the remaining lugs. I can absolutely see it on the sub-2lb rigs, though.

@Br0rB

The 4.45 ones? I have a set of those, and they are actually quite nice. No fancy compound or anything like that, but still a nice tire. I also have the Proline Super Swampers in 1.9 XL, 2.2 and 2.2 XL, and they are excellent tires, but definitely a lot more than 21 bucks. :D

@@Br0rBYep, I have the 2.2 injoras, meaty tire for the mud/dirt but i found they fold under pressure when it comes to rocks..smaller lugs for that
@Br0rB
@Br0rB 10 ай бұрын
@@vb9300 Ah, I just have the tiny Injora ones, but the Proline 2.2 ones are big, and the XL ones are huge, so big in fact that the only rig I had for them is my 2.2 Wraith. Both the 2.2 sets are in G8 compund, and I have designed and printed inserts for them, cause why wouldn't I. :D My first Injora tires were the Injora/Austar Hyrax clones, and they aren't all that great, but at least they were cheap. It's really cool to see how much better Injora has gotten since then. Not just their tires, but all sorts of stuff they make that is now really nice, compared to pretty mediocre just a couple of years ago. I have a few SCX24s that have lots of Injora parts, and they work great.

Reasoning for why this is so critical. We do not have access to shock with the ability to change compression and extension independently. Give that some thought

Oh, I could tell right away. It feels so much lighter, more responsive. And the accuracy of the steering. BUT-- that's likely because the number of hours put into that rig. If it were anyone else, they might go, "Well, it does feel sorta different."

People from MI are far more real than people from Europe for sure. And based on suspension bridges, ours is as good as yours, so that should be at least another reason we're real. Oh, and then there's sports (I know you're not a sports nerd, more of a standard nerd), but the Lions were about as good as the Niners. Should be another reason to indicate the realness of this freshwater blessed land. In the past you've mentioned the cost/performance ration of 3d printed inserts compared to other options. If you're shooting for the best combo for your rig, I think 3d printed is the way to go. For those of us that own 3d printers, the insert world is our oyster.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 10 ай бұрын
The 3D printed insert is, I still believe, the future-- but we're still in the early stages. If you print your own, you still have some of the most expensive inserts on the market once you factor in the cost of materials and tooling. Doing parts fabrication for 2 decades, I had the out-the-door cost for everything I made, down to the ink to print the shipping label and the tape to fasten that label. So when I see a 3D printed insert, I can see all of the costs hiding inside of them. Even printing your own, the Injora silicone are cheaper... at least until you're 8-10 sets in. And after all of that printing is done, you will have landed on something optimized for a specific build, and that's everyone's end goal-- but there's no guarantee that same insert will be the answer on another rig, if it's just "different enough." I love me some bespoke, but when going through a build process (like dropping a full pound off of a 10.3 CJ in an afternoon) 3D printed isn't an option. Then what I need is "one size fits most." The more people try to convince me of the non-mythicality of Michigan, the more I feel like it's just psy-ops from shadowy forces intent on me believing in Michigan. But I pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! 🤣 🤪
