Sir, your videos have just sent my wallet into a state of demise. After much consideration, debating, and down right arguing with myself. I've settled on the build. You have inspired me to build a hodge podge Element. Bit of this, bit of that, dash of something else. Parts ordered and are now on their way. I might make a video, doubt it, but I might. I've slacked in making them for a long while now. I'm a bit of a brazen individual and I'm not safe for work or children's ears. But as always another excellent video and thank you for your advice.

Also sold I'll get one for my upcoming 410 builders bundle build. I've had a go with my mates fusion and the best way I can describe it is like resolution in gaming, it's like playing in 4k when you're used to 720p. The feeling of fidelity over my usual budget brushless stuff was noticable.

These crawler systems nowadays....Wow. I am super impressed. I got one of the first batches of the Quicrun 2300's and love it. I also have a year older Xerun 2800KV 540L and it is an absolute blast as well. They're so good that I have never had the desire to get into the whole silent outrunner chase. I don't go to competitions or anything so the extra weight of the Hobbywings is no biggie.

I really do think that the Pro is the perfect powerplant for a Phoenix. Super low speed, plenty of RPM for bump, tons of torque, and perhaps most importantly in the limited real estate of a Phoenix, no ESC to cram in there.

Good video, I have had the spektrum firma 2300kv in my Phoenix for almost a year now before that it had the fusion 1800kv and the Firma system I felt was slightly better if not just for the extra kv it goes just as slow and quiet as your video here. back when I installed it I knew nothing about it other than it was a 2-in-1 system I did not read up on it at all just installed and ran it , but I noticed it would roll a bit before drag brake would fully engage, and then on a hill if I barley touched the throttle it would roll backwards, I thought maybe it is gear lash from the portals and transmission. I asked on the forums and quickly found out I did not have TH Matching turned on and was told to bump my drag brake up to level 6 on both force and rate once I set those the uphill roll back from a stop went away and no more down hill rolling forward a few inches after off throttle, I was very very pleased with the Firma after that. I had one guy tell me he could set the throttle trim go make a sandwich and his rig would still be climbing the ramp when he came back :) Thumbs Up.

@@rrzrrich While I can't speak to the capabilities, I can't get past the lack of waterproofing at that pricepoint, or the just overall footprint of the thing. Sure, a flashed AM32 won't be waterproof either, but it will be TINY, and needs no fan or other heat removal equipment, so I can shove it in a box. The whole presentation of the Lizard 10 is odd to me. As much as I love outrunners, it's tough to argue the simplicity of the Fusion Pro.

would i be able to run two of these fusion pros on a moa using a spektrum rugged controller ?? or would i run into problems
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 2 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge, all of the "5 series" Spektrum radios (which include the Rugged) have full channel mixing capabilities, so you should absolutely be able to run a pair of Fusions MOA. I only used channel mixing on my DX5c for steering, but the process should be very similar-- it is not a wildly intuitive or straightforward process though, thanks mostly to Spektrum's wonky menu layout and proclivity for assigning every button on the controller to a random function, and then never telling you what that function is. So it can do it-- I just can't tell you how to get it to do it. I got so frustrated with operating my Spektrum gear that I up and sold all of it.

Great video! I have an 1800kv Fusion. The uphill start up is ultra slow but downhill is a tad faster and not ultra slow and it is noticeable on steep declines. Is the Pro’s uphill and downhill startup a lot smoother than the previous Fusion 1800kv or is it pretty much the same? Do they have the same smoothness? Thanks!
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon Жыл бұрын
The old 1800 Fusion is great, but the Pro is next level. It's the smoothest thing I've ever driven. In terms of overall smoothness: Fusion SE > Legacy Fusion > Fusion Pro. All of which are smoother than most everything out there. The startup on an SE is smoother than a Castle Coppehead. + Slate, so it's not exactly jumpy.

@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon Жыл бұрын
So what you're saying is sometimes it feels like the power is dropping to a lower level, almost like the battery is running out of voltage? I'm not 100% ruling out something wrong with the Fusion, but I always start with the simplest things-- last time I had a power system that would cut out momentarily it turned out the plug going into the receiver had pulled out a little. Also check to make sure all of the solder joints on the power connections. Nine times out of ten it's the simplest thing. So we try to isolate those nine things before we resign ourselves to the fact that it might be the tenth.

The same as yourself I recently got the 2300kv Pro fitted in my gatekeeper build kit with jconcepts creep body fitted, I also did the artful dodgers soa and foxbelly. It's running aluminium beadlocks with hair bunned canyon trails and I consider myself to crawl with reasonable finesse. But to my amazement my good friend who crawls with me using his box stock apart from aluminium beedlock wheels also with hair bunned canyon trails can easily do 97% of the lines I can do. I really thought I would have seen a far greater difference in my extensive, expensive upgraded gatecreepers capabilities and his truck. What single item/thing should give the greatest gains in your mind?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 2 жыл бұрын
Not to sound trite, but the greatest gains come from wheeltime. Just drive it more. If you haven't "tuned" your Canyon Trails yet I highly recommend doing so-- they get MUCH better. More wheeltime will start to show you any "holes" in the rig's performance, so you can start tuning to adjust them. You might find big changes come from simply adding or removing weight, or something as simple as changing link positions or adjusting the wheelbase-- for instance, a longer wheelbase is going to climb a more vertical surface more easily (all other things being equal) because a longer wheelbase is less likely to end-over-end (takes more force to "flip" it) at the exchange of worse breakover angle. It's all compromise. At the end of it, it does come down to that 3%. Getting the first 97% might come right out of the box (like with the Phoenix) and the rest is spent chasing the minutiae.
@martinmills6980
@martinmills6980 2 жыл бұрын
@@CrawlerCanyon thanks for your input. I have done the usual tricks to my canyon trials at the time I removed them from their plastic wheels, snipped and siped. As far as the weight goes I have got the rig as close to 60/40 front bias, this was a surprise as I ended up removing the ssd knuckles to accomplish the balance. In the back of my mind I am slowly considering changing the rear end completely from the standard trailing arm setup to a conventional 4 link with the lower links coming all the way from the fox belly skid plate, and hopefully keeping to the standard wheelbase of the gatekeeper. I'll see how she goes for now, but have this up my sleeve for later. Once again thank you. Keep up your wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable work.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 2 жыл бұрын
Lil Yella (now on the Amazon LCG) began life with trailing arms, and the single biggest performance improvement I made to him was switching the rear end to 4-link. Those trailing arms are for just that-- trailing. I have found them to be a hindrance once the climbs get properly steep. I have purchased perhaps too many GK kits, and there are no trailing arms in my fleet, minus the Ryft. And even that one is getting a looking at.

What direct power servo would you recommend? Gonna be a switching all my rigs to DP servos but don't know much about them.
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon 2 жыл бұрын
Budget range: For a long time, my favorite 3S-direct servo was the AGFRC SA75, but the price (supply chain related, I'm sure) kept creeping up and up. So now my go-to for 3S is the same servo that went into this build, the Flash Hobby M50BHW. Usually around $57 or so, sometimes there's a random discount. They also have a 60kg version out (the M60BHW)-- for about the same money as the M50, but I haven't gotten a chance to try one yet. For 4S-direct, it has to be the NSDRC RS500b. Brilliant servo for 60 bucks. Spendy: for 3S-direct, I would say the AGFRC A86BUMW, but again, the supply chain-- that guy is EXPENSIVE now-- last I saw, almost 170. The NSDRC RS800 is fantastic, and will do 900oz on 3S and 1100oz on 4S-- for $120.

What are the biggest difference between the fusion pro and the original fusion?
@CrawlerCanyon
@CrawlerCanyon Жыл бұрын
The biggest difference would be the shorter can length-- the legacy Fusion was too long to fit in gearboxes like the VFD Twin. Beyond that, whatever wizardry HW is doing with FOC control, the Pro has the smoothest start/low-end of pretty much anything I've ever tested. The legacy Fusion is REAL good, it's just that the Pro is next-level. It's so smooth, and with 2300kv, you get wheelspeed you would never get from the 1200 or 1800.
