Can't wait for the bumper mount reversal and flip. Cut the body line right below the headlights, cut the back of the bumper, put the back bumper mount on the front, upside down, slapped all the way in, remove the fake winch. Then put the front bumper mount on back, upside down and French it into the body too

One of the first things I did to my sport was move the battery to the front. Then shortened the frame and body. The sport is one of the best for the price.

You're giving Traxxas a reason to bring back the TRX4 Sport Kit. I spent about 269.97 for my Sport Kit. (of course that was pre-pandemic money)

Very good strategy all around with the TRX-4 Sport. I have the Traxx edition (we have snow here in Canada) and it came with the forward battery mount so I use it. I swapped out the XL5 and stock motor for a Fusion when the stock motor wore out. I run a Traxxas 2255 servo because when the tracks are on it’s heavy and they are hard to steer. I don’t use it as a rock crawler, more of a wilderness adventure trail truck, so I’ve left the rear rack on. I like the look of the rack and have it kitted out with the full spotlight set. In the dead of winter it’s dark but that thing lights up the trail. In the summer the Canyon Trails go on and it does fine on almost all my local terrain. Anyway, if I bought a Sport to use as a 50/50 trail truck and rock crawler, I’d do exactly what you are doing with the tan man.

The pace of this series is very well judged for those inexperienced with, or apprehensive of, tinkering with their new toy cars. As usual the video is so dense with information and opinion that theres something for the grognard too.

If you really want to quiet that truck down...get a Kyx aluminum motor mount. I didn't want to drive my Sport kit when I first got it a few years back. But that mount made such a huge difference.

I assume it helps by aligning the pinion too the spur gear better. I have two TRX4's that are over a year old and a friend that has two that were purchased a year apart. He actually wouldn't dri e his TRX4's cause of the noise. Then when he realized how quiet mine was and I suggested the aluminum mount, he got two and now drives them again.

Oh, TRX-4 by a lot. The amount of money that need be spent to get a TRX-4 to a level of shall we say, competency is far below that of a Basecamp. Durability is basically not directly comparable. Between the two, the TRX-4 Sport has a better body, better shocks, better tires, better electronics, better axles, and better aftermarket support. The "new" Basecamp looks nicer and is $10 cheaper (for the vehicle itself,) but that's it. As you get into modifying them and look at the level of performance based on equal dollars spent, the Sport is miles ahead of the Basecamp.

I k iw every one says that a trx is built like a tank, but I have broken a front axle housing on my trx6 before. It was last winter, middle of winter. I had a 1410 3800kv and castle mamba x in it. Just doing some trail driving on some really rough terrain.

Yeah, everybody but the Sport has a CRAMMED receiver box. If you try to add anything else you have to get an extender.

As always great production, insight, commentary etc. I regret not getting a sport when they were available because i feel like its kind of the penultimate iteration of the trx-4 platform. Like a trx-4 whittled down to only its most essential components. All the reliability and performance with less weight, cost, and complexity. Very cool. That body is ass though..maybe thats why i didnt buy one, cant remember now.

I am there with you, as I strongly prefer a kit and will buy one whenever it's an option. But the "industry" doesn't much care about the established, they only seek out the new-- and that's not just in toy cars. Looking at just "the big four," there's less ~7 kits total, and the truth of it is that only a couple of them are even worth considering. It's honestly terrible that we have to rely on MEUS, Injora, and the like for innovation in the segment, but here we are.

I've never gotten a click out of any of my TRX-4 boxes, just out of a couple of Vanquish VFDs. Or if there is a click, I can't hear it over the usual TRX-4 growl.

I don't think I'd pay more for a Traxxas pinion than a Robinson Absolute, but it is good to have options should the situation arise.
