I love your videos and I'm typically the last guy to be the safety police but this type of riding is not acceptable. No one should drive any type of vehicle (or even walk/run) through traffic like this. The individual rider with no insurance is not going to be the target. The criminal case, not for money but for jail, will be bought on by the state. That would be against the individual rider. Even if no one has been killed or seriously injured this time, the publicity is going to seriously affect community opinions, and damage the reputation, sales and profits of the companies.

This looks absolutely incredible but let me be the Karen and get this out of the way: the bike race that inspired this is a major reason why DeBlasio is pushing to force bicycles to get license plates precisely because it is being done in the most dangerous and visible place possible, creating the absolute worse impression. In Hsiang's video on this race, he nearly gets run over by a car pretty much straight off the starting line. I can't and won't change anyone's mind about things, but this is the single worst look for EUCs anyone could possibly come up with.

The next race should definitely implement guidelines like not going against traffic especially in the bike lanes!! @@CBRR8881 The camera never lies - absolutely not true. evX has done a great job editing this together for dramatic effect, but mission impossible this was not, everyone was and did get to the finish line and that was always going to be the case, though admittedly the video would make it appear a minor miracle that anyone got there at all. If you take anything away, be aware how easy it is to be deceived by imagery, particularly on the news and in the headlines. Think I may have spotted a couple of traffic violations.

I'm surprised no one was injured and the odds are likely that someone will be hurt but if you do this again, make sure you have a large colored banner at each of the checkpoints so the members have a clear check in point. At the finish you need to set up two rows of cones in parallel that they have to ride in the lane towards an actual finish line with a ribbon for the winner to break.

At the beginning of the video you show some footage of a guy who, I can only assume, is determined to get eucs banned. That’s the only explanation I can fathom. Shouting like crazy at a bunch of pedestrians to whom, in accordance to universal traffic regulations, he should have given way is also a perfect way to scare the public and condition them to demand much stricter control on these vehicles. At the time I’m writing these lines I haven’t even watched any more of the video, I had to stop it and comment cause it was reckless and potentially very dangerous for innocent passer-bys. Can you imagine what would have happened if one or several old people who can’t move or react quickly had been crossing at that time? Really saddening. Edit: ok, much of the rest of the footage is just as nerve-racking and dangerous.

I, Ginger On Wheels, used to have a sort of respect for you. Riding in NYC, surviving the roads... No more. It's obvious to me that NYC is a place that isn't conductive to riding EUCs, so ya''ll have taken it upon yourselves to ride against the law. There is no 'you have to be here to understand it' logic. I've been there, three times. It's just a bad place to ride EUCs. There is a traffic light, pedestrian crossing, roadway, and multiple pullouts on every block but no one in this video obeys traffic laws. I hope you don't sleep well at night knowing you're the single reason EUCs will be banned in the US.. Ewheels, Clark Pads, EUCO, & Shredlights have all denounced their partnership of this event. If you'd told them what you would be doing it would be different. Sponsors thought this would be an event like RevRides' one at Applevalley speedway. You deceived them and put their rep on the line. Good luck getting sponsorship going forward. This is the worst EUC video I've ever seen and I hope your channel gets removed. Can we clarify that this video is not a representation of all "riding in NYC"? There is a way to ride safely in NYC and many do. NYC can be chaotic, but it is totally possible to obey traffic laws and move with proper consideration around pedestrians. Clearly this video is not that...but extending this video to some generalization about NYC as a bad place for pevs is incorrect. Have to kill future sponsorship for this. I can only hope those sponsors didn't realize what this event could turn into, the very destruction of their businesses. On another note e-scooters made it into broadcast news this week for the NYC area and not in a good way. Short sighted people keep thinking that this is beyond the law and are completely failing to see that you are pouring jet fuel on killing something that is not sport or a game for a lot of people who use these devices for work and commuting. NYC already has significant problems with packs of reckless lawless ATV and dirt bike riders. The bureaucrats and legislators aren't going to make a distinction between you and them.
