So many similarities to dirt snakes, and love how the beetle crashed the shoot, just hanging out on you.

@@CrittaCam Hello, I'm from Brazil, here we have a genus of snakes called Oxyrhopus. I believe the biology is similar to African house snakes. Oxyrhopus eat lizards when they are young, which makes it difficult to raise them here. The size of Oxyrhopus offspring is the same as that of house snakes. I wanted to know how you can be successful in maintenance?

@@CrittaCam I see that outside of Brazil there is the breeding of snakes that naturally would not eat rodents. But with you, they are born eating rodent newborns. Do you select breeders that accept this type of feeding more easily? And then puppies are born eating rodents?

@@CrittaCam I create Mussuranas, philodryas, hydrodinastes. But these are generalists, this makes it easier for puppies to start feeding

Beautiful ! Not colubrid though but lamprophis, more closely related to elapids. I will try to see if we have those in Europe ! I doubt we have that much morphs...

Guys, I want to breed this African House Snake and popularize it here since it's not well-known in my area. What do you think I should include in my breeding colony? I live in a place where I have to import these snakes, and it's really expensive, so I want to maximize my one-time shipment for the breeding colony. How many do you think I should get, and what types or morphs should I plan to produce and keep in my collection? Thanks to anyone who’s willing to answer and help with my questions. i really interest to keeping this, current;y i only have one male that i buy from local importer. Not many people that have interest in AHS in my place, but i think this species are beautiful, and so tame or docile, perfect for education or introducing reptiles to kids and teach them about genetics, conservation, keeping and the most important things is to give people understanding of what a snake truly is.

i guess the first question is where in the world are you?, the second is what do you want to achieve?
