Crazy session today! JV tries the Martingale betting system for an entire shoe! We DO NOT advise this as a betting style as you need a huge bank roll and it is very risky. We thought you all would get a kick out of it though! What is the Martingale betting system? According to Wikipedia: "A martingale is a class of betting strategies that originated from and were popular in 18th-century France. The simplest of these strategies was designed for a game in which the gambler wins the stake if a coin comes up heads and loses if it comes up tails. The strategy had the gambler double the bet after every loss, so that the first win would recover all previous losses plus win a profit equal to the original stake. Thus the strategy is an instantiation of the St. Petersburg paradox. Since a gambler will almost surely eventually flip heads, the martingale betting strategy is certain to make money for the gambler provided they have infinite wealth and there is no limit on money earned in a single bet. However, no gambler has infinite wealth, and the exponential growth of the bets can bankrupt unlucky gamblers who choose to use the martingale, causing a catastrophic loss. Despite the fact that the gambler usually wins a small net reward, thus appearing to have a sound strategy, the gambler's expected value remains zero because the small probability that the gambler will suffer a catastrophic loss exactly balances with the expected gain. In a casino, the expected value is negative, due to the house's edge. Additionally, as the likelihood of a string of consecutive losses is higher than common intuition suggests, martingale strategies can bankrupt a gambler quickly."

This is exactly why every blackjack table has a table max. So even with an infinite bankroll you eventually hit the table max and your strategy is bust. I see some tables with max as low as $500. That means if the table minimum is $25 you have 5 consecutive losses before you aren't able to double your bet. Every blackjack player knows how easy it is to lose 5 hands in a row.

He only used the martingale system for two losing streaks. Hardly “a whole shoe.” What wasn’t demonstrated (thank goodness!) was if you go on a 7 hand losing streak, you will end up betting table max. If you lose that then you can’t double your bet anymore.

While I understand not going full Martingale as a regular thing, I like the idea of changing your bets up a bit rather than $50, $75, $50, $75, and just occasionally scraping up to $100. Like...if you're running a $1k main bankroll (and have cash on hand to double/split if needed for something), if you get ground down to $500, doing a "fuck it" bet of that $500 to either go broke or be back to even in one hand would be a great draw to a channel if it was a regular thing for them.

Dons dealing getting bit sloppy. The card flips, card placement, forgetting to check for blackjacks, cards just seem to everywhere, he makes the cards look as though they are extremely heavy. Love your guy's relationship though, he seems like a kind soul.

I prefer playing flat, if I can double my money early on I go home, and leave if I go past half of what I came with, or find another table. You really need to be conscious of how the trend is going and your stack count. If you’re on a roll, it doesn’t take long for the trend to reverse and lose everything. Set attainable goals and stay away from the alcohol! Furthermore, I always play to hands and play aggressively on double downs and splits. Don’t play scared. The one thing I do that goes against the chart is I often stay at hard sixteen. Unless there are a high amount of low cards coming out of the deck, but usually I stay.

If you count cards, you hit 12 vs 6 when it’s a true negative 5, meaning there are a lot of small cards left in the shoe that can help us win. Every % of the math counts, even in the worst downswing.
