Unbelievable!! What a catch. Gee whizz I’ll bet that bear didn’t expect that but the fact that it held him there is amazing. I tanned my own bear hide. It took awhile but with enough breaking of the hide it became pretty supple. Best results in terms of self tanning I’ve ever had. Hangs on the wall in my shop and I’m looking at it now. Still glad I did it. That was a real pretty Martin too. Congratulations on the nice catches and great memories. Enjoy the day👍👍

It was a once in a lifetime catch, I'm sure! I'm going to call my tannery and see what they will charge. Otherwise I will tan it myself. I've tanned fox and young beaver. I understand the black bears are good to eat. You can also melt down the fat for it has many uses. I thought that if the bear was raiding your traps you could shoot it. God bless🇨🇦✌️

That was exciting. You just never know what can happen on the line. This fall while checking some snares I had out, I heard what sounded like a bear about three hundred feet from me. When I got a bit closer, I saw the tracks of what looked like a sow & two cubs. I didn't have a gun, so I got out of there. I took my rifle in after that. You never know with those buggers around.
@thecamocowboyoutdoors569311 күн бұрын
Yes, that's what keeps trapping so interesting. I have been trapping 43 years and I still see new things! These bear in winter can be quite dangerous because there isn't much food around for them, they get more desperate. Always a good idea to have a gun with you when you're out in the forest! Thx for watching, brother. Have a good day!

Got one in a coyote snare once, but wouldn’t think that trap would hold that bear. That young bear shouldn’t have been wandering that much mid winter anyway. Must have went into winter hungry.
@thecamocowboyoutdoors569311 күн бұрын
I don't know if he got disturbed out of his den. If so, usually they find another spot to den up again. There was a lot of berries last fall but this bear didn't have much fat on him. Thx for watching, brother. Have a good evening!

All of my belisle traps are bent after three or four catches to the point that they can’t be used,switching over to dukes.
@thecamocowboyoutdoors569311 күн бұрын
That's unfortunate. Hopefully the Dukes will do better for you. Thx for watching and have a good evening!
