Brasilian here: Saci travels in air swirls, and they come from bamboo shoots. A Saci can also be trapped in the inside of a bottle, you need to throw a strainer inside of his air swirl, once it has caught him you must take his cap off (which strips him of his supernatural powers) and then you can put him inside of a bottle. Also, in most of the stories, stealing the cap doesn't have him grant you a wish, he just becomes your servant until he can either get his cap back or you give it to him.

They should make a legendary based on the headless mule: it's a mule that is headless obviously but instead it has fire where the head is supposed to be. It's said woman who marries priests that took a celibacy vote turn into this monster after the night of the marriage and need to have a saddle strapped into they backs and ridden until the sunrise to break the curse.

I’m Brazilian and I confirm that, Saci cannot teleport, actually he is so fast with one leg that he can turn his leg into some sort of whirlwind, but it looks like he teleports.

I LOVED IT! Im brazilian and when I was a child I always listen to these stories and folklore, Saci is one of my favorites. There is another thing about him though. Saci, besides the teleport, is extremly fast and can control wind to some extend, so he hoovers around in a kind of mini-tornado. If you are able to trow a net or a peneira (I googled it but have no ideia wich would be more accurate to describe it, I think you guys call it "strainer") at him while he has the tornado on, he will be restrained. After that, you are able to lock him in a glass bottle, kind like a Genie. After that he can grant wishes to you, but the thing is: being locked up is the only thing that truly pisses him off. Eventually he will escape no matter where you lock him, and when he does, oh boy, wait for his revenge.

So good to see Brazilian folklore being represented 💕 Saci is probably one of the most well known folkloric creature here (together with the Headless Mule, Iara and Curupira) If not the most! Loved the video! Another less know fact about him (some stories vary depending on the region) is that Saci is also a master of healing herbs. He has the knowledge of where to find them and how to use them to heal any type of injury. Another curious fact: some people theorize that the pokemon Whimsicott (Grass/Fairy type) is based on Saci. Since it has dark skin, is super fast, naturally learn the move “Tornado” and has the ability “Prankster”. It can be a coincidence… but I like to believe that it’s real 😅😂

I love this! Saci is one of the many popular mythological creatures in Brazil and all of them have an interesting story behind it, like Curupira (a protector of the florest, with the feet turned backwards to deceive hunters), the mermaid Yara (a native who used to be the strongest fighter), Norato & Maria Caninana (giant snake siblings, which one loved and the other hated humanity), Boitatá (a giant snake on fire that protects the florest against deforestation). There are also same creepy ones like the Witch Cuca (a witch with the theeth or the head of a crocodile, that eats children who go to sleep late), Pisadeira (a sleep paralysis creator that feeds from your fear), Corpo-seco (a terrible man that when he died was denied on heaven, hell and by the soil with discuss), Mula-sem-cabeça (a woman who seduced or fell in love with a priest and becomed a horse with fire instead of her head) and Papá-figo (he also eats children but only their liver and then he leaves the corpses full of money for the funeral).

It's so interesting how people who supposedly never met have similar mythological creatures.... For example there's a Mizo (tribe in India that has a very similar mythological creature - one leg, very fast (can't teleport though), and if you catch it, it will grand any wish, any number of them you can utter out without taking a breath

To be fair, in most versions of the myth the Saci doesn't teleport either, he travels inside a whirlwind (there's even a part of how he's usually invisible and you can only see the whirlwind; and how you can identify the saci whirlwinds to capture one). Also, usually he doesn't just grant you a wish, he becomes subservient to you until either you give the cap back, or you slip up and he takes it back. Source: I'm brazilian and this is one of my favourite national mythological creatures =P there's a couple more details to the myth too (even somw different types of saci, based on the various different versions of the myths), but that'd take too long to describe.

Here in Assam, India ,we have almost same kind of mythical creature , we call him "baak" , but the differences are , he likes raw fish , in a wrong place at a wrong time if you meet him, he will fight with you if you lose you will be dead and he will bury you upside down . Me: yes, first I used my first wish, and I do mean first wish, to be able to teleport anywhere whatever wherever I want. next I repeat this process over and over and over again teleporting behind this dude to steal his red Cap to get multiple wishes. and finally once I've used up all the wishes that I want to use on what I want to get I do it one last time grab his cap and wish the odor that his cap gives me to be permanently removed including this time around from this cap grabbing. Now I have everything I want and I don't have a stinky odor on my hand.
