This takes me back to the days when I would spend the evenings with mates trying to sort our cars for the weekend. No mechanical sympathy back then so they used to go wrong a lot. Up all hours of the night over the weekend just trying to find people to have some sort of race with. Now I'm mid 30s and own a golf R. I still like the the built not bought aspect but I need the car to be on the road all the time as its a daily that the wife drives. Nostalgia is a beautiful thing and it takes guys like this to carry on what many before him started.👍

I get what your saying but You’ve brought a Golf R? The money you’ve paid out on that you could’ve brought a professional company built classic/sleeper car!! Plus these days owning a nice car opens the door up to the bottom feeders who pull drivers out their seats, break into houses while the owners asleep or use them scanner jammers to take it.😩😤 Unfortunately we live in a society nowadays where working hard and buying nice things for yourself make you a target I’m not dissing the R either as I know they’re weapons personally but just saying I think my next choice if I go fast car is gonna be a company built mk1 golf 20v or summat just as old cuz the low life’s these days ent got a clue about snap n cap their too lazy!!

@@tdick1541 if I didn't have a wife and kids and didn't need a car with all the refinements that new cars come with then I would 100% spend the money on either a mk1/mk2 golf with a vrt engine. The Golf R replaced our mk5 Golf r32 which was showing its age. Again I could have sunk more money in to that but I wouldn't trust the wife to drive anything old especially when she would use it day in day out.

There’s so much nice high end stuff online but this is down to earth and anyone can do it if motivated! it’s a real sleeper! I’ve been keen to do a cheap fwd or even an awd 4 banger turbo for a while especially with the fuel prices at the moment a smaller lighter car is the best bang for buck

Had an MB6 Civic with VTiS bodykit which is on this car, too. But it was a Pirates Black option only. Was a great car. Went directly to a twin turbo 350Z afterward but the Civic had a great engine.

These sort of builds is what puts a smile on my face. I'm board aswell sick, of youtubers and the general public who financed their car and parts to get silly power. In essence it all becomes very boring and repetitive. Takes away the fun of motoring. Yeah okay you've got your 140i or golf r or whatever blah blah blah pushing 500+ but its still very boring and a clone of what's on the streets now, there is nothing authentic! Just soulless. I have a relatively stock Aerodeck VTi and a lot of people don't realise how quick it is. Always keep it sleeper XD 8250 is the stock redline or there abouts but the VTi has a reasonably lengthy ratio in the sb9 box. There of a slightly lower compression than the usual B18s so really, they're begging to have a turbo fitted. Think I'll keep mine N/A though.

I really don’t know why all vehicles aren’t non interference/contact engines and timing chains instead of bloody timing belts. Freaking awesome car man, love it lots.

The B18C4 IS an interference engine, just like most other Honda engines. He just got lucky with it only skipping one tooth or two when his timing belt tensioner failed. You'd need to skip a fair few teeth before the pistons kiss the valves, but they will make contact if it's out enough.

Nice job. I own several Honda bikes, but never had a Honda car. What does it do to the gallon? My 1999 Saab 93 auto cabriolet is essentially a hairdresser’s car sitting in the future classics waiting room, but it’s only doing 19 mpg! I gave up a quick 2.0 TDCi Mondeo estate for it!!

For those who aren’t sure what this extremely rare Rover made Honda Civic vti Aerodeck MC2 ( a mb6 but a wagon and rear suspension differences ) there is apparently only 45 1.8 Honda Civic vti B18c4 on the road in the uk i am one of them mines coming up for 100,000 miles and even completely stock as it is revs too 8500 😂 Jamies would smoke me bus lengths with almost double the power

I used to have an MB6 years ago, which is the hatchback version of this car. Very underrated things. 😁 Although he's done everything on a budget, he ideally needs to keep an eye out for a JDM P72 ECU so he can keep his dual runner intake manifold operating as it should, so long as he knows someone who can surface mount the chip. Him using a P28 at the moment means it'll be down on torque at low revs when just driving around off boost. Unless they've deliberately added something to trigger the IAB solenoid at the correct RPM instead to keep it working. Could also do with keeping an eye out for a cheap rear anti roll bar setup to help with handling since specifically the aerodeck never came with one from factory when all the hatchback ones did. MG ZS 180 bits are a good upgrade on them if you can find them, since the base platform is the same.👍 His mates are wrong about them being non interference though, as most Honda engines, including B series, ARE interference. He just got very lucky that it only skipped a tooth or two when the timing belt tensioner failed. 😬
