we have design this ESP32 512 GPIOs board (KC868-A256) for home assistant. It use by ESP32-WROOM-32E, 256CH digial input ports + 256CH MOSFET output ports + 4CH analog input ports + RS485 + Ethernet.

So happy to see hardwire applications still exist. Im personally not a fan of WiFi, Bluetooth or any wireless controls over devices. I want everything hardwired.

Cool concept. I would guess its not made for typical homes as the wiring would be crazy. At home I prefer wireless but in an industrial environment or for an art piece or light show this could be great. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼

20 years ago I designed an iO board with an atmel avr processor that could control 32 relays and could be daisy chained so I could use unlimited io because it was protocol based. I still have some of these boards and could add an esp to them to make them wireless

good, yes, before 20 years ago, we use Ateml AT89C51 or AT89C2051 make relay board.

Why not separate the computing module from the I/O to make it scalable. Like with I/O interface cards on PLC.

This is only a thousand bucks. That's an incredible price for the systems that would need this many inputs and outputs.

Nice work! You could also add ads1115 uChip or use analog in circuit for ampere (voltage-drop across precision resistor). Keep up the good work!

Is there a market for this? Why isn't this one board with daughter boards that communicate via I2C? One burnt input and the entire board becomes e-waste. Also it seems like the jumper wires being installed could be jumpers on the PCB you could enable/disable.

Im all for crazy things like this, i just cant think of any reason to own one. That does not mean i dont want one, and wont get one tho. 😂 even if i only make use of 10 pins or so.

I'm curious to know why you decided to drive the darlington arrays with separate shift registers instead of using an IC that incorporates both functions in the single package?

these inputs are really great, but i have concerns about using a to long wire to connect it, would be mainly using it as a switch sensor to see if a switch in a room anywhere in the house has been turned on. would this device work? for this kind of work

great work. Can you please tell me if you have a solution for my project: central ESP32 controller connected to multiple ( may be 50) sensors around the house. some ar I2C some are UART and some ar generic GPIO sensors. the idea is to keep the controller central and the sensors connected to a central controller that relay the datat to HASS. please help and thank you

Great product, do you do small input / output modules that I could have on the Lan in other parts of the building that i can change the input high and then an output on the 256 pcb would follow the input from the small board, then i would want a momentary input on the 256 way board at the control to switch an output for short time on all the remote i/o pcbs..

the terminal is very expensive , then add development fee and SMT produce it by only 1 or 2 PCB. we not use solding by people, all use by SMT machine.
