When Jung Kook said he was 15, he was really 13. In Korea they calculated age differently until June, 2023. They are were considered 1 the day they were born and then everyone gains a year in January 1st. So, JK was born in Sept, 1997, but he was considered 2 yrs old on January 1, 1998, when he was actually 4 months old. If you watched the full Guide it shows two scenes in which the guys went to watch JK’s school ceremonies. One was the day he STARTED high school and the other is the day he graduated high school. There is actually a video of him when he was a trainee saying he graduated middle school that day, so he was in middle school when he joined. As far as experience, NONE of them had singing experience, although 4 of them wanted to be singers. Jin wanted to be an actor so he didn’t even have a desire to be a singer. Two of them had dance experience (JHope and Jimin) and two of them had rap experience (RM and Suga).

At this debut, Jin the eldest is 20 and Jungkook the youngest is 15. Jungkook actually starts training at the age of 13. When they say he joins at 15 is because korean age is calculate differently.

Please finish the introduction video and pay attention to the dates that are provided. The training period they had ranged from 6 months (Jimin) to nearly 3 years (RM and Suga). Jung Kook was 13 when he joined and 15 when they debuted (he was in middle school when he joined, and the members attended his middle school graduation, high school entrance ceremony, and high school graduation). Jimin and V are only 2 years older than Jung Kook and were still in high school as well. The oldest at debut was around 20, I believe, and the oldest is Jin, followed by Suga. Jin couldn't attend his college graduation (the first of all of them to get his bachelor's degree), because of their work schedule, so the members threw a small party for him. All of them now have bachelor's degrees; some have master's degrees. Some of them learned how to sing and dance from scratch. Jung Kook was sent to the U.S. to improve his dance skills (for like a month). Did they have natural talent, probably, but they had to work their butts off to get to where they are. Nothing was handed to them on a silver spoon. I have mass respect for this group of young men from South Korea!!!

*No More Dream was literally the first thing they put out. It was their debut song, from their debut album. AND PLEASE finish the Introduction video* BTS Debuted in 2013 as a Hip Hop Idol group. They were ages 15 (Jungkook) to 20 (JIN and SUGA) in this video. This is actually their debut album (2 Cool 4 Skool), title track (No More Dream). And 'We Are Bulletproof' was the second MV release. They performed both of these songs on their debut stage. BTS were originally supposed to be a purely rap group. But Bang PD saw that they wouldn't have a chance to make it with just rap. So he change it to a Hip Hop Idol group with dance and singing as well. They have some really great R&B tracks also. The best thing about their music is the way they mix genre's and stay true to who they are as a team. Bang PD signed RM in 2010 (he was 15/16), and he already had some years as a rapper, and he was in underground rap Since age 13, like SUGA. So Bang PD held auditions and scouted until 2012, when the group members were confirmed. But they were all trainees for a while. You need to finish the introduction video to get more information. So a total of 3 years training together. until debut on June 13, 2013. Also, Jungkook was the youngest when he joined at age 13. He was 15 when they debuted. These guys are brothers. They will even tell you that. When you start out from the bottom, sharing a one bedroom apartment, and working together to become a unit/team that flows as one, that will make you a family. They were a hip hop group, and they studied day and night. And all seven of them have their bachelors degrees and some have their masters degrees. Wrap your head around that for a minute. No More Dream WAS their debut single! They have always had talent, for sure, but what's interesting is RM, SUGA, Jin, and Jimin had never really "sung" (other than rap) prior to joining the group. Jin and Suga had no dancing experience, and J-Hope didn't know how to rap. RM and Suga had been underground rappers, J-Hope, a street dancer, Jimin, a contemporary dancer, Jin, a film and theater major. Jungkook was barely 14 when they debuted and could sing, and V was 15 and had never intended to audition. He went to support a friend who auditioned and liked his look, so they asked him to sing for them. All this was just to say that BTS is different from how other K-pop groups were formed and trained. RM was the first member who joined the label in 2010. The others joined over the next couple of years. Jimin was the last with only a six-month training period before they debuted in 2013. They were originally going to be a hip-hop group. You can see that direction in their first couple of albums. Their music and message have evolved over time, and they perform music in just about every genre. Do yourself a favor and keep digging into their discography... you won't be disappointed! Funny you should say that about detention. In their fictional storyline about themselves they meet in detention at school for being late. Suga's opening line is I want a big car, big rings, big house aside from that I don't have any big dreams. That is how this song essentially goes. RM asks the teens if you have dreams what are you doing towards creating those dreams. JK says Yeah mom I'm going to the library now then runs to meet his friends. This song is about the schooling agenda in Korea that does not allow for dreams. All the kids in Korea are working towards one test to see if they will get into one of the big 3 universities in Korea or hit the jackpot and score so high that they can go out of Korea (to the US) to go to one of the universities like Harvard or other ivy league schools on scholarships. But this song is encouraging the kids to have a dream to work towards that dream, to believe in greater and work towards it.

The training period differs from member to member based on when they were casted/brought into the company. So RM, Suga and J-Hope all joined in 2010 so they had 3 years under their belts vs Jimin who came in last in 2012 and he had 6 months to train. I would suggest you check out the lyrics for this song. I consider it to be the musical thesis statement of BTS. There's a line in there that is a reoccurring motif throughout various songs across the decade that they've been active, but each time it's used it takes a new meaning in the particular song and has a new feel because you can see how they've grown and the meaning evolved with them. This theme of dreams is one of the most revisited themes in BTS's discography even though it's explored in different ways. From having no dreams because adults have decided your future for you, to learning how to create your dream on your own, to being afraid that your dreams will devour you with how big they are and how likely you might be to fail, to having a failed dream and learning to make your peace with that, to having a dream you couldn't meet but learning that it's always okay to start a new one, to feeling like BTS will be there cheering for you when fighting for your dreams get too tiring and you just need to rest and sleep instead of dreaming. There are so many different songs tackling different sides of it for different people or circumstances or maybe even the same person at various stages of growing up. The MV looks rebellious and delinquent only because parents who micromange their kids' lives would view the message of following your own dreams as being rebellious and delinquent. In actuality, its an anthem of support and fighting for yourself.

There is a series of there journey. It's called Rise of Bangtan. It's a lot for episodes but it's great! The first episode basically talks about what kpop is and the process of forming a kpop group. Another recommendation is "The Most Beautiful Life goes on: A Story of BTS (Updated 2023). by Rice Squad. It says 2023 but it's actually 2022. It's talks you thorough their journey from the beginning until 2022.

You should watch Bulletproof pt2 , it’s the other song they debuted with No more dream. And yes, they are the epitome of angsty youth, but that was the point. They could relate to the fact that everyone’s parents want them to get a stable office job. S. Korean culture encourages 14+ days in school and study courses. They were saying, we got you and understand the struggle. Take courage and live for yourself. Their relatability and compassion for others made their fan base what it is. Jimin once asked, “why us? Others work hard, are talented and care…” but they go above and beyond for each other and their fans. They share their weaknesses and worry. The sincerity is real. Plus, their work ethic, not just the hours, but the precision they focused on, insane.

RM and Suga were learning to dance whilst up most of the night writting and producing. RM was leader at 18 but Suga and Jin were about 20. When age seniority in korea is a big thing. His 148 IQ and almost precient ability to see where trends are going. Plus deeply thoughtful lyrics. He was highly respected by Bang PD which was why he leveraged everything, nearly going bankrupt. They discussed everything. LOT was filmed. RM talking about his solo mix tape in the very begining says that its very self deprecating. Bang PD says isnt that a little masochistic. Then pulls it back and says off course you have to do what feels most natural. RM nods. I think it says alot. Bang PD is letting them make their music despite the fact that everything he has is on the line. He also says hes worried about RM and Suga. From footage we see they are pushing themselves to breaking point. Trying to get the music and dance performances ready. RM is also trying to get the school age children V, Jimin and Jungkook musically educated. They tell how he begged them with tears in his eyes to listen to the compilations he made them. At the same time they all 7 continue education.All have BAs and at least 2 have masters.

The swag and talent they showed in their debut was from their hard work and determination, from training from 2010-2012. RM & SUGA have experience coming from underground hiphop, but the things they do from debut is not the same, SUGA did b-boy, but the dances they do even before debut was very different. J-hope and Jimin coming from dance background, learned rapping and singing. Jin was determined to pursue acting but was eventually included in BTS and literally learned how to sing and dance during training. And V and Jungkook, they like music, but haven’t got experience and honed their craft through endless practice. They consistently try to improve their craft every single time even until now. In debut, they are still finding themselves, their color, their musical aspirations.. Them coming out as a hiphop group was the plan of the company when they formed BTS, that’s why the first members are all rappers, but they changed their approach and make it into an idol group that has hiphop as their main influence. Throughout the years they found their own colors and blossom into who they are today.

Okay sooo, here's how it went for BTS All members individually have different training periods, for instance, RM joined around late 2010, SUGA, JIN, JK & V joined in different months though different ways in 2011, and JIMIN was the latest to join in mid 2012. So as a GROUP they trained for about a year prior to their debut. What you said is true and at the same time it's not true. They came into the group, each already talented or crafted in something different or simply raw like a diamond before being polished. RM was already an amazing rapper and composer, Suga was already a rapper, a composer and a producer, Jhope was an amazing street dancer, Jimin was already a contemporary dancer, Taehyung was a diamond and JK had already the most incredibly stable and controlled voice... But Jin, for instance, had to learn everything from the scratch. J-Hope learn to rap from the scratch, Jimin taught himself to sing, RM and Suga had to learn to dance, JK, Jimin and Jin learn to compose and produce, Jhope learned to compose, Taehyung leaned to dance, and long etc ... they were talented, but they also cultivated themselves later on and they are still improving... Even now...

This song was released towards the end of 2013. The 1theK is BTS official distributer BigHit used early on til 2015 which is also sadly the only BTS MV's that have the ever so important CC that you need to click onto for the so meaningful & inspirational English subtitles!! These songs telling everyone to never give up hope, and keep fighting for your dreams, no matter the expectations of what society or even your parents. Will living in others dreams not being true to yourself make you happy!! Never deny yourself your own dreams, thoughts, & desires! These very lyrics is why BTS had such diehard loyal fans in army since they debuted! First time many ever heard someone, speaking up for many who had no voice, not just the many disenfranchised youth but so many downtrodden in society!! RM even talked about this in his 2018 United Nations speech when BTS co-partnered with UNICEF against violence & bullying against youth starting in 2017. Most trained 2 years, RM a little longer, Jimin 1 year. 2011 until debuted 2013. I recommend watching the videos in chronological order. Don't forget to check out live performances too! So much fun! B sides are great too. Many with no official video, but live performances can usually be found.

Jimin’s training was actually 6 months. So the range was 2 years to 6 months.

@esq.a.c.7694 You may be right. I've seen that here and there. I only know for sure that Jimin said in the 2015 Seasons Greetings video that he first moved to Seoul on the 15th of May. That would have been 2012, obviously. In the context they were speaking, it sounded like he was saying that's when he moved into the dorm. I thought he would have started training shortly thereafter, but I may be mistaken. Same clip, Hobi said he moved into the dorm on Christmas Day 2010. And since RM and Yoongi were already there, I guess their trainee time would have been between 2.5 and 3 years. I remember Tae and JK also giving exact dates for moving to dorm, but I can't recall except both were 2011, with JK a few months earlier than Tae. I also recall Jin saying he came in at the same time as JK. I think it may be that Jimin trained 6 months before officially becoming a member. And then it was another 6 months before they debuted.

i think you need to watch a few more longer videos so you can understand bts arent just another kpop group nor are they just another boyband. they do not do the same things and their bond is like family not just coworkers. they have FULL creative control and theres no ego. in the beginning their label didnt have money for good quality clothes, styles, hair and makeup or music video budget. so the guys didnt get say in those aspects but for the writing, producing and type of music, subject matter etc they always had and still have FULL control. as they gained more money the budget went up and the members were able to give opinions, make choices etc about their styling, makeup, hair, music videos etc i just wanna mention you said something about machine and maybe it was just your analogy and you didnt mean anything by it but im thinking you may have some misconceptions about kpop especially since you said they look like typical kpop group bts started as underdogs and they succeeded because theyre NOT typical kpop. please react to bts vs kpop by bbygangmag kpop vs orientalism by bbygangmag as well as bts : more than kpop by bbygangmag and bora city magazines videos many of them deserve reactions and lastely please react to bts hardships 2013 - 2021 by xceleste

From my understanding I think without RM, Suga and J Hope, BTS would’ve had a hard time with the dope ass music because those three already had experience in making music. They really helped guide the rest of the group musically.

If you’re going to be checking out the albums in order, that is you’re starting from Too skool for cool, I suggest you keep the track list with you. And Go in order. Every album has two songs with MVs. They are the main tracks. The others you can find either live performances or lyric video for. When you ready some more content that will explain more about their progression musically and their ascension first to the top of the K-pop world, and then to the top of the workmld period. First The most beautiful life goes on a story of BTS by rice squad (make sure to play the latest update ) Though I know their story it still blows my mind that 7 young kids lived in a 486 sq ft apartment with 1 bathroom, some of the still going to school, and practicing up to 16 hours a day to ready themselves for the debut June 13, 2013. It’s easy to under estimate the role bang si hyuk (pd bang) played and still plays as the tough but benevolent mastermind driving then forward. He still does to this day btw though the relationship has changed. The catalogue is 300-400 deep and there are about 80 official MV’s, countless dance practices and shooting sketches so when army says a rabbit hole….. With BTS, before the official “training” most of the members were already involved in music and or dance for years prior. Thats one of the main things that I think was what set them up to be who they are. You had members who grew up listening to and studying hip hop and rnb and actually PRODUCING music. This was the first song. Debut 13 Jun 2013, so almost 11 years ago. Most of the members had signed up with BH by 2011. So had around 18-24 months training. Jimin had the least at only 6 months. At debut they were basically still children. jk was 15, Jin (the oldest) was 20.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Great song. So catchy. They were known as the monster rookies so yep. And u do see their growth with every MV and album. JK rapping is chef's kiss. When I 1st heard this i was like oh i like this. This one is a hit. Remember BTS debuted as a hip hop group. Their debut songs were catchy and they were cute. The rapline had promise. Yes, JK is a sub rapper. If u love rap and have listened to it all ur life u can see this is cringe. But for us who are not rap fans we liked this. It was catchy and still is catchy. I listen to all their rap and i don't even like rap like that. Back than they did as the agency suggested. They did not know what they were doing. But they worked hard. Going to America during American Hustle Life 2014 they learned what real rap is. They grew from that experience a lot. They all trained for 3/2 years except Jimin. Jimin trained 6-8 months. I used to think this was long until i got into other groups. And honestly the longer u train the better u are. But also life experience can train u a different way. Shrugs. Than they practice for the live stage for 3 months. 12-16 hrs daily. They run on treadmills while singing. They had passion. They had drive and yeah they were angry. But they worked so hard and true army noticed. They grew slow and steadily but they always had more ppl then they predicted show up to concerts and other stuff. They truly are a gem of a group. They all had different training periods some it was closer to 2 years others like Jimin it was more like 6-9 months (everyone seem to say something different but Jimin's train was def short for Kpop). Anyway the guide will answer most of the questions about this just remember the ages aren't the same as you think because in South Korea the age system use to be different so some would be 13 to us but in SK they'd be 15 (they have resently changed the age system to match the rest of the year.) If the guide hasn't answered enough for you maybe try some of Xceleste's guides as well (sorry i can't remember the names of the just now).

I think this was actually 2013, and at their debut Jungkook was 15. They gave of their best from the start. The first member was RM recruited in 2010 and Suga soon after, all the rest joined in 2011 except Jimin 2012. Jungkook was only 13 when he auditioned and had to move to Seoul from Busan. He always acknowledges that the guys brought him up. They weren't in the same training system of other Kpop companies. They trained themselves pretty much, and unlike other idol groups they were encouraged to write their own material about what was in their lives.

Yes, they were babies here🥰 but even then , we can already see their so much potential and how reselient and hard working they are!! Think BTS like an Avengers or Power Rangers , if they are powerful enough doing each of their own solo projects( each of this multitalented boys has something to offer depends of what is your preference ) , how much more as a group ! If you ask me what makes BTS difference from other K-pop group or other artists, , t's their ATTITUDE. For 10 years now of their career, they never became big heads but still always stay humble despite of being ThE BIGGEST GROUP IN THE PLANET, generous ( every now and then ech of the member still active of giving donations ), polite and very respectful to us BTS Armys or not . The more they getting older , the more they are getting better and better and came out the best of the best!! Also to answer yiur a little bit confusion about why Suga has 2 names, when he is in BTS group he is Suga . But when he do a solo project ( which each of the members has ther own solo project) his name is Known as AGust D( it is actually a reverse of Suga except the TD stands for Daego Town where Suga came from.

That's why the big 3 gave them so much Shit. They knew Bang was going to have a huge winner, and with his new philosophy , they didn't want that to happen. LOL They lost that battel, BTS is amazing. They were all talented in one thing, they all had to learn to dance except J hope and Jimin. JImin only had 6 months of training. Bang wanted to cut him, but a couple people in Training RM. J Hope, and Suga all fought hard for Jimin and Bang finally agreed. RM had 3 years and so did Suga, the rest had varies numbers in between. ARMY, did I get these numbers right? Yes they all have solo work and it has ALL charted high on many major charts.

Keep a box of Kleenex handy, because some tears are going to fall.... guaranteed. #3. Now, remember to breathe as normally as you can, because, when you start to feel lightheaded, that is your body telling you io PLEASE BREATHE STUPID!! ( I am far from calling you stupid , BUT, BY NOT BREATHING , it makes your body tell you that you are ) you find yourself exhaling loudly, at the end of each thing you partake in of their creation. #4. IT IS TOTALLY OKAY TO STOP YOUR VIDEO, THEIR VIDEO, or whatever AND WALK AWAY FOR A MINUTE, usually out of frame, TO ADEQUATELY COMPOSE YOURSELF, BEFORE RETURNING & SITTING DOWN ONCE MORE. #5. It is totally okay, to blink your eyes once in a while . In fact, it is neccessary. There ya go, these guys are going to come at you like a runaway freight train & hit you like one too. They are a very unexpected & powerful experience. Be prepared to feel things you have never felt before. How these 7 artists, manage to grab a hold of you deep inside & just shake you to your core , is beyond me. They have extremely accurate maps, of the himan soul & they use them, to find a way to get in & quite oddly, they never leave either. But, you won't want them too anyways. You will even say to.yourself , I MISSED ALL OF THAT!! WHERE IN THE HELL WAS I, WHEN THIS WAS HAPPENING,!!?? HOW COME I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM & THEY ARE A WORLDWIDE & INTERNATIONAL PHENOMENON, LIKE NO OTHER, EVER!! ??; Well, I can tell you why. Because the American music industry & all of the events , awards, recognitions, etc connected to it ... Refuse to acknowledge Korean artists & their work, to the point of erasing them ,from any possibility , of too many people in America , knowing who they are , or ever even hearing their music, in their lifetime. So it is not your fault , nor is it your ignorance of the fact, it is purposely engineered & powerfully twisted that way, with a healthy dose of , extreme prejudice, racism & bias, all thrown into the mix as well. That is the reality of it & it is incredibly infuriating at best. Personally, i don't give a dàmñ, whether it is in English or not , HIGH QUALITY CONTENT IS just that & I recognise it for what it is, in all of it's excellence.
