Williams stuff will last forever. I have stuff dating back to the 80s and all still operate perfectly. Nice haul BTW!

Yessir finally joined the amtrak family! I’m kind of thinking of selling the Williams one and trying to find a genny that has dcs!

@Pgk.railway I've been very happy with my atlas premier genny. It's scale, great detail, and while I have O72, it'll do O31... I'll certainly be adding the older mth premier versions here and there as I can.

Looks like you scored big! Beautiful stuff! As you know I'm primarily a post-war guy, so I bought an FM Trainmaster 2321 a couple of weeks ago for cheap on ebay. It was a little rough when I got it, but it looks and runs great now.

The Brass Locomotives from Williams are built to Scale and some require larger curves than 0-31. The wheels are to scale and may derail, especially on Old Tubular Track.

It’s run quite well so far but I’m sticking to running it on 0-42

Congratulations! That's a fantastic assortment you picked up at that flea market! And don't feel bad for what you paid, if the seller's happy and you're happy there's no reason for guilt. Here's the lesson for everyone, DON'T discount flea markets as a source for toy trains! You never know what's in there until you look! It's no guarantee you'll find some good stuff BUT I've gotten some "right-place, right-time" deals at flea markets myself. You're going to love those Williams products! Williams trains were damn near bulletproof and it's a shame Bachmann bought the line and then didn't know what to do with it. One bit of advice I'll give you on the Genesis diesel, if it's like the twin-motor Williams diesels I've got it's probably going to take off like a rocket when you power it up. An easy fix, wire the motors in series and it'll tame it right down. It'll also improve the illumination of the passenger cars as well since it'll take more power to get the engine moving. Since there's little to no collector interest in Williams trains the prices tend to be VERY reasonable when you find them and there's still plenty out there. You know, that fantasy B&O Heritage unit looks a LOT better than the Half-Heritage unit CSX is running now! Again, well done! Thanks for posting

The weaver GP 38 probably has split axel gears. Last time I checked (@ 2 or 3 years ago) P&D hobby had replacements available. Also, assuming the engine has the sprocket towers with the delrin chain, the sprocket gears also may be split. The last runs of these engines had a "China" drive which I have never repaired. Good luck and I enjoyed the video. Norm T.

If the prices were too low MAYBE all came by route of theft....who in a estate sale would HAVE new in box and barely opened stuff..who died leaving THAT
@RailRide11 ай бұрын
The possibility of theft by the seller, while not unheard of, doesn't rule out the original owner passing away with unopened trains. A running trope in this hobby (particularly in O-gauge) is people having more stuff than they can fit on their layouts, or can store in an easy-to-access location, leading to pieces sitting in unopened, sometimes factory-sealed boxes for years if not decades simply for lack of time or current infrastructure. Stories abound of collectors/operators buying a sought-after piece, only to discover that they already had an unused example sitting in an obscure corner or behind other equipment stacked in front of it. Still others build a collection in anticipation of a future layout still years away from construction or completion (a reality in this hobby is that certain pieces, if you don't jump on them when they're released, will be difficult to near-impossible to acquire at some vague point in the future when you have the wherewithal to put them to use right away).

@@RailRide yes...more information about it all would tell, like the overall wealth of the person and the other things for sale, STILL , EVEN WHEN TRUE, YOU MAKE DEFINITE OPINIONS SIGHT UNSEEN ABOUT what is normal and what is justified normal behavior for you , for us EVEN WHEN IT COMES TO opinions and judgement of PEOPLE AND GROUPS OF PEOPLE....AGAIN it all GOES INTO proving the trite cliche that you can't judge a BOOK or a person by its cover is a massive lie.., and one used to enslave
