This is very cool, I built a V8 71 Pinto back in the day, started out with a worn out 302 - 3 speed standard, ended up with a 351 C - 4 speed. Very nose heavy (unlike the car in this video!) but still crazy on the street. Sold it with a 302 back in it and the guy wrecked it shortly after buying it. Those days were great. Love this video.

C/EA was a great class in comp eliminator back in the late 1970s....If I remember correctly, The index was 8.65 so this Pinto had to have been one badass hauler ! I was running a [legal] A/FX Camaro in 1981 however both classes were refactored in 1979 and A FX was discontinued at the end of the 1981 season.... I never competed with that car in NHRA national event competition but the car was 100% legal for several classes in competition eliminator...It was an ex-Pro Stock car.

Yeah, all of our stuff around here was eighth mile, so the index was a little different, but still very quick cars for that time period. Many of our local racers didn't run at national events, but were very competitive nonetheless.
