Absolutely a clean build. APR is really the way to go! I bought my mk7 gti brand new and dropped APR1 Stage 1 at 5k miles, owned the car for 100k miles and no problems other than the DSG at 97k miles having some weird 5th gear rattling noise, which I blame on the dsg maintenance that dealer claims, they heard no rattling after. These cars on Stage 1 are incredibly fast, like Challenger, Charger, Corvette fast... dont ask me how I know :D

I love the MK7's, they are the best looking golfs.. those and the old R32's/ and MK4 VR6 models.. had one in high school and having a V6 is such a dream but, I knew i should have bought a R32 when I had the chance.. now they are pushing 30-40k with 100k miles on them.. but keep it up man, you did a really good job explaining all the mods, you have a good personality for youtube.. and I learned more about upgrading a MK7 GTI to out perform the Type R spec, at "least in power and torque" and i've been debating buying a used MK7 type R or MK7 gti, or Audi S3, I also had a 2001.5 Audi S4, and those things are incredible, mine was stock and it was still quick and could go anywhere in the winter.. and I sold it with over 220k miles with no real issues except normal wear and tear. but if you have any advice for me and the decision I have to make my budget is around 20-25k I would greatly appreciate it. I know they are all very similiar cars, but I like having all wheel drive for the winter but its not a deal breaker

As an owner of a stock Mk7.5 with 6speed, I ran across information online about crank-walk issues, due to upgraded clutches. Any concerns about this on your car?
@ENGAGE_AUTO_GROUP Жыл бұрын
Crank walk can happen on a stock clutch regardless. It’s a pre-disposed issue if your car was manufactured to be so, changing the clutch out won’t change the randomness that some of these cars will eventually be a victim of crank walk
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@ENGAGE_AUTO_GROUP I see. I figured increasing pressure on the crank with a stronger clutch would increase that opportunity.
@_.Zen0_ Жыл бұрын
what is the crank walk issue?
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@_.Zen0_ It shouldn't be an issue. But, with a less than desirable thrust-bearing on the clutch side of the crankshaft, the force of the clutch presses the crank sideways (normal) without a stout thrust bearing design, and the crank can end up shifting laterally over time and cause some catastrophic issues. The stronger the pressure plate and clutch, the more force when you shove the clutch in to shift. That's the theory anyway. I truly don't know how common it is although I've read about it. Evidently VW hasn't built the most stout thrust bearing design to deal with it in the manual transmission cars. DSG isn't an issue.
