Had this one back in the days. Super fun game. In 2025 it looks all right, but back then it was the closest anyone could get having the full arcade experience from the comfort of their homes. It was way ahead of its time and truly the coolest thing to have. I bought the Switch version of a reboot of Crazy Taxi last year and it looks much better, but didn't come close to the original. Not sure if that's the fault of the new game or just time spoiling me with much better looking and much funner games. But the memory of playing the original with my friends back then will stick with me forever.

4:53 I always thought it was the other way around. Green being closer than Red.

@@SolidusGabriel the manual has a page detailing the color system, and yeah a full red passenger is a short distance, I’m sure just because when I started playing I grabbed them mostly, ignoring the time added and payout wasn’t as good as green. After playing a bit I think of it like a traffic light, you’d always want green more than red.

Quick tip: When playing, you can chain together a link of crazy dashes by repeating the input multiple times. This helps you maneuver through the levels much quicker, giving you a better time bonus. But when you use the crazy dash, the game locks you from drifting during it, so you must make sure that you don't try to crazy dash when approaching sharper corners.

Always having a good balance to keep you playing and perfecting your skills to earn yourself a high rank at the end of your session. Combined with the mini games/challenges that teach you little tricks and techniques that certainly benefit you once you pop back into Arcade Mode, giving the game that nice re-playability and motivation to get good! On top of that, the 90s Punkrock soundtrack truly makes this game! That perfect cherry on top that makes Crazy Taxi such a joy to sit down, pick up and play.

When you master crazy dash and crazy drift moves and of course the city layout, the game with arcade rules may take up way over a hour. Also if you drift towards a wall in right angle when returning a customer you the physics might glitch and you get hundreds of dollars easily. I remember my record was way over 1 million dollars and finally it's getting hard to find new customers. Dreamcast's new map is definitely the better one.

The Android version of the game is also very good. It's basically the OG game with touch controls.
