1. Dry Bowser has 0 speed and 6 miniturbo (6 total) compared to Funky Kong's 4 speed and 0 miniturbo (4 total) 2. Baby Daisy has 5 speed and 3 miniturbo (8 total). No other lightweight has a speed/miniturbo sum of more than 6 3. Every expert staff ghost has been beaten with karts. Moo Moo Meadows was the last to fall, and I think the WR might be only 0.001 seconds faster than it.

Hi, If you're referring to the original Nintendo ghosts then all of them have been beaten by a decent margin. If you're referring to ctgp esgs then n64 Bowser's castle and n64 Sherbet land have not, and will likely never, be beatable with a kart. You are correct on the meadows time, that for a long time was the last beatable esg with kart.

I'm pretty sure dry bowser also has 6 offroad which is why people used him for the tracks where they went offroad a lot. that would also mean his total is 12

I'm very happy to see Karts get the attention they deserve so thank you Mayro for making this. I figured since I have experience with karting I could clear up some of the questions and the confusion that you had throughout the video. 0:49 Yes, Dry Bowser is used because of his MT stat, being the highest in class, tied with Wario. Dry Bowser and Wario are faster than Funky on tracks with lots of MTs and very few boost panels and tricks, and vice-versa for Funky on more tech heavy tracks with lots of boost and tricks. Dry Bowser is used over Wario because Wario has a slight drift bonus which will make charging MTs a little more difficult. 1:58 The "shortcut" on Mushroom Gorge is the wallride. The regular gap jump is considered "no shortcut." For whatever reason, sometimes chadsoft messes up on MG and puts wallride runs in the no shortcut category. So that's why Bob's wallride run is there even though it shouldn't be. The real no shortcut KWR is a 1:45.872 by Daniel. Wish you saw it cause it does some very unique sideways strats in the mushroom section. 4:40 Melg's run here I believe is just another chadsoft bug where for whatever reason chadsoft thinks it's a shortcut run 6:26 The terminology for categories in this game can be a bit messy, but generally "Glitch" is used for runs that do an Ultra Shortcut, "Shortcut" for a "glitchy" (i.e. wall clips, driving through walls, etc.) shortcut but doesn't skip any key checkpoints, and No Shortcut for... no shenanigans at all. If that was confusing, don't worry, it's a constant ordeal in the TT scene that's debated on frequently. 7:36 Yeah Auto is very good on DKS because of the zipper strats, the absurd amount of boosts, and there being very few spots that manual can mini turbo. These types of tracks are very good for Auto and this is why there are several CTs where the fastest kart is Jetsetter Automatic (Jetsetter might get DKS KWR sometime in the future) 8:45 The reason why the right path has become faster for Bikes is because of the relatively new Mickey Mouse detach strat. Where the bike releases an MT just at the top of the slope, and detaches from the road and skips over the downward sticky road. (Kinda like RR Moonjump) I don't know if Karts can do that strat, but either way I don't know if it'd even be faster because Karts generally benefit from boosts and tricks more than bikes do. 10:54 Maple Treeway turnskip is actually easier to do on Kart than Bike. Not only that but Kart does it shroomless whereas the bike record does not do the beginning shroom and instead uses a shroom for turnskip 14:53 RR Kart Moonjump can be done on Bikes too. Outside bikes can make it just like the Kart pretty easily but the method for inside bikes is generally seen as not humanly viable and TAS only. 15:27 The route switch or path switch is actually another advantage for outside drift. While with a shroom any vehicle can do it quite easy, in a RR TT you are obviously doing it shroomless cause you are using your mushrooms at the start. The shortcut is already very hard to do on outside drift but with inside drift doing it shroomless while also hitting the boost panel is another thing that I don't think is humanly viable. 16:18 I think someone already commented this but yeah the offroader when it shrooms actually lifts its front tires up almost like a wheelie allowing it to wall clip. Unfortunately, the Kart is so laughably slow that even with the Ultra it still isn't even close to being faster on GV2. 18:25 Yes this path is faster for Karts when going through the water, either with a shroom or shroomless with an offroad kart because of the super mini turbo 24:59 That shroom strat was discovered by Kog (the "X" player in the SC run). It's actually completely revolutionized the track across the entire game now. The overall bike WR uses it now. 27:46 Mini Beast actually keeps up with Wing very well most of the time and sometimes is faster than Wing. I believe this is just a case of a Shortcut run driving being less optimized than No Shortcut driving that's just natural no matter how good the player is. Also the player "Wild Will" is on another level on rDKM. He has been incredibly dominant on rDKM for quite some time. Some final things I should mention is that I think you said somewhere in the video that Kart records aren't too contested. That is not true. Kart records are incredibly competitive for an alternative category. The karting community in this game is surprisingly large and very active. Records and Top 10s are highly contested every day. What would've fixed the confusion with the Glitch/SC/No SC, is if you didn't use chadsoft as it can be bit buggy at times and instead used the "mkwkartrecords" website. (I would post the link but YT probably won't let me. You should be able to find it in the descriptions of newer KWRs on YT) It's a fantastic resource made by Daniel. But seriously, thanks again for making this! I'm not too much of a karter myself that much anymore but most of my connections with this game are within the amazing Karting community that deserve the attention for all the time and effort they put into this game.

I wanted to use Chadsoft so I could record the runs myself in higher quality and I figured it might have some silly categories that aren't contested like ultra longcuts. For the ghost valley 2 records, wall clips ARE possible with karts, but really just the offroader because it wheelies when using a mushroom. The offroader, however, is a terrible vehicle so doing those clips is moreso to show off than to actually get a faster time.

Hey, glad to see karts are getting attention 👀👀👀. I’m a kart main in this game and they are extremely satisfying to time trial with and are much more competitive than you might think. Also i don’t know what is wrong with the categories but no sc mg is just the gap jump and not wallride, and there is only one category on tf,rWS(no one made it faster yet),rDH (no idea why there is sc runs😂). Also gv2 and dkjp sc categories are slower, just funny things that some people did for no reason 🙃)Also it’s a shame that one of the best is…… ya💀

Fun fact: the waterfall cut at the end of koopa cape can be done shroomless except it can only be done wit an smt & even then, its a difficult one to pull off. If it wasn’t obvious, only karts can do it and I know only a few. The shroomless cut is high risk, mid reward depending where u are in the pack so not really worth going for unless u have space in between other players

14:45 the bike is theoretically faster, but it makes use of a trick that as far as I know is only TAS. I didn't do super thorough research or anything but I don't believe any human has done it or probably even could.

The reason the Off-roader can wall clip is because, when it uses a mushroom and boosts, it’s front tires get lifted up slightly, acting as a kart wheelie, allowing it to wall clip. The Off-roader is the only kart that does this.

I was so disappointed to see you do this *after* my DK Jungle Parkway time was beaten but I completely forgot I had the shortcut BKT lmao. I'm just using Koopa for fun, really. Baby Daisy is optimal, but Koopa has more Miniturbo and drift (and handling) so you don't lose much time picking Koopa. The reasons I used my mushrooms like this is to get the Kart flap BKT. Unfortunately, the spiralskip saves less time than the ending cut. The Rainbow Road beginning cut is also doable on outside drifting bikes and the tool-assisted run can even do it with inside drifting bike. Dry Bowser is used for the 8 additional frames of miniturbo (24 for superminiturbos) and in case of Koopa Cape the offroad advantage Dry Bowser has over Funky Kong also helps. Rosalina has half of the speed of Funky Kong and half of the miniturbo of Dry Bowser, so she's basically a niche character for Karts. The 1-0-2 Shroomstrat on Delfino Square has to do with the bridge cycles.

They used the off roader for ghost valley because for some unknown reason it can do a wheelie (not an actual one, it doesn't increase speed but you can see the front of the kart go up when he does the shortcut) which allows the wall clip to be possible

Longer mini turbos which outweighs the higher speed stat funky kong gives. On tracks with tricks, funky is used due to mini turbos not mattering as much throughout the run

Dry Bowser has a mini turbo stat of +6, which makes him more valuable when using strategies like snaking. Wario also has +6 mini turbo, but Dry Bowser also has +6 in off road, while Wario only has +3 in off road and another +3 in weight, which isn’t as useful in time trials

You can start the shortcut at the *end* of lap 1. Also, the track is called "Dry Dry Ruins", not "Dry Dry Desert".
