The old guy is Elwyn. Apparently he was a patient there and had nowhere to go once the asylum was closed down. He lives in a caravan off site and used to have a dog he set on trespassers and believes he's protecting the asylum from vandals. (Not 100% of the story, was told by a local.) Nevertheless, this place is absolutely beautiful and there's so much to see, even the nurses quaters/ creche is worth spending a whole day in. Will hopefully be returning again soon. Salt is a protector against evil and is believed to help banish or keep demons out. Sage is well knoen for it too. I've been here, was a hassle getting into the grounds but was worth it 100%. Didn't get to explore as much as we wanted to but what we captured etc at that time was amazing. I still have pictures too, it's soo great. Unfortunately people seem to keep wanting to set fire to the building which literally destroys history and it's actually quite saddening. The local council needs to help maintain this beautiful building instead of let it go to waste, fall apart. I'm hoping to go back soon.

Yeah you're right, when the place was built, there was probably no Asbestos at all. However there's warning sign lying around. When these places were built, they didn't use any Asbestos but a lot of these places were already old in the 60s and 70s so it's all the repairs that brought Asbestos in these buildings.
