Honestly this remake is the antithesis of the resident evil 3 remake. Whereas that game is incredibly short and the level design is minimalistic, ff7 remake expands upon literally everything in a huge way. It really conveys how gigantic a megacity like midgar actually is. It's awesome

Actually, it doesn't. And it doesn't you don't get to interact with it at ALL. All levels are designed to be as flat, atrezzo-looking as possible. The only glimpse you get of Midgar as an open world game full of life is through CGI. As someone who thinks of the original as the best game ever made, that gave a tear to my eye. And I will leave the fan fiction bullshit for another day.
