Having grown up in the 70s in the UK, having your mittens attached to a length of elastic through your coat sleeves was the done thing. Those mittens are the Uber luxe version.

I live in a climate which is cold a few months of the year (will get down to 0 Fahrenheit) so I’m used to the cold, bit I do t like it, and when I was in Paris and London in the winter I absolutely wore hats and gloves, especially if the sun was not out. You for sure need those ear muffs Dayle! I love how excited you are. I’m so excited for you!

I often pack a slouchy trench (not a gabardine one, but one in a flowy fabric) to wear over a leather jacket when I visit the UK in winter, half the time I don't need it. The fabric composition means it doesn't crease in my suitcase. I always check the forecast to be on the safe side, and sometimes take a lightweight puffa style gilet, it can go under my jacket, or trench if I need extra warmth.

Down coat is for sub zero temperatures, wool coat is enough in December. Or you can layer wool sweater and trench coat. I would pack layering pieces. Wool scarf, beanie and mittens are fine, but they can be lighter material. All the thick wool stuff is for sub zero temperatures.

In Denmark and the UK, the coldest weather is usually (but not always) in January and February. December isn't usually too bad (disclaimer: last time I heard something like that was when I moved to Denmark, and I was told "it doesn't snow here on the coast, and if it does the snow melts quickly", so of course we had snow from December to April, and there were mini icebergs in the sea!)😉

I always overpack when I travel, only to discover that when I have arrived at my destination, none of the pieces I packed seem to go together nor can they be worn in multiple ways. Help is needed! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I cannot believe how well your down jacket goes with those rubber boots! Hello Dayle, you have some wonderful items for your holiday. I would suggest getting a cute beanie that can come over your ears rather than ear muffs. Or since you have the hooded puffer coat, It might be ok. The longer length puffer coat is great to have too, your friend was right. You might want to also get a few pairs of merino socks ...for when you are not wearing the shearling boots, though,good idea to have shearling lined boots too. Even living in Aust I have more than two pairs hahahah. I do feel the head and extremities needs to be kept warm. Merino knits are a great idea. I swear by these too. Merino have some wonderful properties, after wearing you can just hang them up to air and you are good to go the next day.

I really liked the Chloe rain boots, definitely agree a bargain for sure. Currently on holiday at Hamilton Island and due to fly back to Brisbane tomorrow, not looking forward to the temperature, super hot and definitely not to my liking. Blimey, you’ll be hoping for an arctic breeze or two with that coat but it is really lovely though. Saying that, you may feel the cold more transitioning from your Q’land heat but generally the weather would be like one of Melbourne’s cooler winter days. You’ll also be in and out of places and it’s so much warmer inside than any Aussie building could ever hope to be. A few lighter pieces to layer would be a good idea. Those T-shirts are fab!
