Hi Dayle, I’m a little rough on my shoes can’t be helped. I’m disabled and walk with a limp so I tend to beat them up. I only have a hand full of designer shoes. They are all LV. Two pairs of LV sandals, two pairs of LV sneakers. The rest are anywhere from a 100 to 375 a pair depending on the shoe. But my thoughts are I’m grateful to be able to walk in the first place so if I rip up my shoes then oh well they’re made to be worn. Take care sweetie🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

I walk a lot and I have a huge designer shoe collection. I always get them soled unless it’s a delicate evening shoe. Rubber soles are more comfortable, they can be cleaned and they don’t absorb dirt in the same way leather soles does. I normally get soles in the same color as the leather under the shoe instead of black. I like that look better and for me it feels more luxurious. I do not buy shoes if they have a seam on the inside sole as it gives bad blisters. I never clean patent leather with wet wipes. It makes them go sticky and miscolored in no time. When I try shoes before buying I differentiate between a slightly tight shoe and a shoe that will give blisters and pain. I walk around and look at my foot afterwards. If it’s left red dents it’s a no. If it’s slightly tight it’s good as it will form to the foot. Some of my favourite brands due to both look and quality are Jimmy Choo, Fendi and Ferragamo.

Over 15 years ago I proudly walked into my cobblers with my first Louboutins to get Topis. He laughed so much, told me there was absolutely no difference between them and a $100 pair from Myer, that women were getting ripped off. Hubbies Church, he said were quality plus and on a different level. Like you, I still buy the ones I love 😆😂

Every pair of luxury shoes I have owned has ripped my feet to shreds. I truly believe they are not made for people who walk or work. Valentino, dior, even Hermes orans. I have a Uk average foot size and width…nothing extreme. I’m too old to be arsed with so much pain just to live anymore and frankly no luxury item is worth it if you can’t enjoy wearing it.

I’m hard on my shoes. RV is on my list of shoes to buy. My Orans got ruined in a rain storm in Singapore, they stretched a lot but they are comfy. I love my Fendi Colibris, they are stylish and comfortable. Have a pair of Chanel suede loafers and espadrilles that I love the look, but the top of the shoe is so tight on my foot. Such a bummer. I was told that Chanel does a wide in some shoes, so i will have to inquire about that next time I’m in boutique. Designer shoes are worth it if you like the look and will wear them!!

I used to have a large luxury shoe collection, I also used to have the lifestyle to wear them. I learned that a quality pair of shoes that I paid $350(ish) for lasted longer than the designer shoes & I used to get the leather soled shoes re-soled as soon as I purchased them too. My lifestyle has completely changed (for the better), I don’t work in an office anymore, & I don’t go to the kinds of events or places where I would wear designer shoes anymore either. For me it’s not worth it, but I certainly had fun wearing designer shoes when I had somewhere to wear them to (even though they are definitely overpriced for the quality).

Hi Dayle. I can't believe how crappy those diors are! My cobbler says to bring in the shoes before they are worn to have a Topy applied. I was shocked at how scuffed my Manolos were after one use. I don’t get why we should keep are best things in pristine condition and unused. I have shoes from Isabel Marant, Gianvito Rossi, Jimmy Choo, Hermès, Aquazzura, Valentino. When buying shoes, I try them to fit my lifestyle and style, and avoid very fancy shoes for a fantasy lifestyle x

The best shoes I have ever seen in construction and quality are my Chanel lace ups. Second are my Paul Green boots from Peter Shepherd. I have never worn leather soled shoes out without getting a Topy sole first. Regarding your Chanel sandals, you should have got a Topy sole then polished and waterproofed them before wearing them out. Leather is not necessarily fully waterproof. For many years I have used Collonil sprays and creams for whatever fabric. Also, Saphir leather products are the Rolls Royce for their leather products. I am a quite fanatical with leather maintenance, but it pays dividends. The problem is my purchases last an eternity and the urge to buy more requires restraint. Unfortunately, leather being leather, is not a fabric to be knocked about. Thats my tips for leather maintenance. When I visit Melbourne Evans is the place for luxury shoe and bag repairs. Amazing work but expensive. They are the only shop that I know that sell Saphir.

@@DaylesAddiction Thanks Dayle. I could rave all day about leather care. I must add so that I don't mislead anyone, you do not polish Chanel leather bags. They simply are wiped. Also, Saphir sell very different leather products. For example, nappa leather has its own product. There is an online site I have seen that sells Saphir but you need to be careful and choose the right leather maintenance for creams etc. as they differ for different leather types.

Whew! And I thought I was the only one cursed to destroy my shoes! I would understand if you have a fav pair and you would work it to the bone but let’s face it some luxury footwear are just not made well! 😢 And if you hardly use them even if you put like the silica pouches on the insides of your shoes and the dehumidifier to repel moisture in time they will crack! Thanks for your honesty! Some KZbinrs will say they have nicks on their shoes but will not show it clearly on video as if they were devastated over a minor nick but you really show the condition of your shoes! It made me feel that I’m not the only one doomed to have dysfunctional luxury shoes! I’ve discovered from one KZbinr to add like those clear plastic pads under your sneakers where the soles get most of the pressure hence it tends to thin out the rubber. Just bought some and will soon see if they will actually work! Thank you! New subscriber here! 😊
@deborahcurtis1385Күн бұрын
The reality is we just all need staff! If you have a dehumidifier going and silica it will inevitably dry out the leather so you must in addition, use leather conditioner on the shoe to counteract the damp. Living in a material world is not easy if you lack staff! I need a personal secretary for sure...haha!

Dayle you may need shoes specifically for driving. Leave them in the car and put on your special day or night shoes on inside the car after you've parked. I'd assume most of the damage is driving-related especially the top kicking during driving but also the back of the heels. Also you will be kicking the tips of the pointed shoes when you are using stairs. Walk slightly to the side of the stair so you'e not attacking it straight on, like kind of parallel. (I've given you the tip of getting the resoles done immediately after you buy the shoes. Not sure if you recall that?) Tod's have great driving shoes but also other brands have them. I saw some in Coach recently and they're well worth it to preserve your shoes. They're basically glorified moccasins but they have backing on the heel which is ultra reinforced. They're expressly made for driving! I'm not sure if you or Meredith appreciate my constant hints and tips I do sound like a know-all and don't mean to come across that way. But I do really enjoy sharing the knowledge even if it helps someone else. Annoyingly yours, Deb

I can get away with flip flops and some trainers in children size but if I want flats or heels in my size I have to go designer as the main stream does not carry sizes that small (and I don't want childish looking shoes, I want women shoes in my size). And I am careful but they do get damaged, especially on the toe part like yours.

The only ‘luxury shoes’ ie pumps I think are worth it are Louis Vuitton Archlight Pumps with painted toes, rubber heels and soles. They are also comfortable and I get them in kitten heel - in white in monogram and denim, in patent, in all the colours and materials. They are super tough with their rubber components, neoprene foot beds and canvas sections. I always wonder why Dayle why don’t you get archlight pumps?! Why o why? No need for topi which like fake nails removes a lot of leather in the process. And they are stylish, work with my sporty preferences, go on with velcro and grippy on slippery streets. I can run in them if needed and the need sometimes arises. I do not like adding topi soles to leather soled shoes as they ‘lift’ at the point and I’m a pointy toed lady! I cannot handle the damage topi does to the point when it pulls away at that edge. It hurts me in my soul. Each time I do it to new shoes it hurts and a few wears in and I’m back asking them to stick the topi back to the point but the damage by then is done. I am a real stomper in my shoes though I like them to look delicate so it’s quite an ask and there is only that one shoe that meets those demands. (Now boots that’s a totally different video as the engineering is completely different and they can last!).
