Why was she ever ashamed? Sign....

@@SuperSaverPlaysSPG It depends on the environment that her daughter is in, if she is in an environment with every one of her peers being westerns, they're bound to have some distance in thoughts, ideas, identities whatsoever... hence leading to her thinking that being Asian is a bad/different thing and be ashamed to be... anyhow, it's good now that her daughter is starting to accept herself! :D

@@FishTail33 Just to provide you with some context of where I'm coming from with this. We live in the States, not Cali either, a city with very few Asians. Still, we can never be ashamed of who we are. Being who you are ain't a choice, but being ashamed is.
@sndyyy87924 жыл бұрын
Sonny Zheng most times, Asian people are made fun of because of their heritage, and/or dumb stereotypes. For instance, the time where I brought fish sauce to school, I got terribly bullied and student would call me “fish girl,” which made me so ashamed of my Asian heritage. However, everyone grows up in a different environment. One where people aren’t as one-sided, which results in having more pride in your culture!
@SuperSaverPlaysSPG4 жыл бұрын
jxc I mean.... ok, not nice those kids made fun of you. But, bringing fish sauce to school?? Cmon.... that stuff stinks. I hated when one of my co-worker microwaved her salmon lunch at the office. This has less to do with your heritage, and more to do with stinky fish sauce.

Yes this film has it’s problems, but I’d say most of them can be reflected back to Hollywood, not the people making CRA. Asian Americans get ONE film after 20 years and it somehow has to speak to every ethnicity and experience? Hollywood let white people make hundreds of racist and exclusive movies before holding them accountable so how about we just enjoy the film for what it is and hope we get more chances in the future for other Asian ethnicities.
@lit7215 жыл бұрын
Lynnae Strait yup, exactly. sometimes you can’t complain and take this movie as it is because come on, an all asian cast? hollywood’s already giving us something. before we get all the diversity and right stories , we need the basis!

This movie was really inspirational as it had an all Asian cast, but I think they should’ve had at least some background characters that were not East Asian as there are many people that live in Singapore are South Asian, and many South Asians classify themselves as Asian. This film does break stereotypes, but the stereotype that South Asians are not Asian remains. It’s just a thought.
@gg-dg6rk4 жыл бұрын
Pavatopia, I think they did... but then again- the movie was focused on East Asians. It is the Eastern Asians that are associated with the wealth. Of course there are other Asians too, but the movie focuses on east Asia, as I mentioned.

I remember feeling so out of place as a kid when my family flew to Puerto Rico and I couldn’t speak to any of the family I had there. People would stare with so much discrimination and hatred because I was “not one of them” or “was spoiled/rich” in their eyes. Just for having being raised in America. In the end all that matters is love, because there are no limits, only the ones you set yourself. Everyone has a right to love whoever they want, I went through it myself, having been in a relationship with a vietnamese girl who has a wealthy rich family, and me been hispanic, they pressured her to end things after 4 years together, which it happened, but even she knew in the end that it was true love between us, but she had to decide to stick to her family so her family wouldn't hurt me anymore. Although all that led me to the love of my life 3 years later who is also a traditional vietnamese girl which things did work out in the end. Old generations put so much pressure into their children to stick to their own while in the end they realized that all that mattered was their children's happiness.
