Crazy Setup! KONE & ThyssenKrupp Elevators - Gilbert Building, Stanford University - Stanford, CA

[Recorded 4-10-24] What the heck is the story behind this wacky elevator setup?? These were both old elevators (possibly Montgomery) that were modernized. I'm assuming both cars were modded by ThyssenKrupp with MAD fixtures but at some point, they decided to completely replaced the left car with a KONE. OR, this building originally only had the right car and they added the KONE, but I'm not sure. They look the same on the first floor. Both cars use identical Innovation hall fixtures, except the chimes are different. Obviously, these are independent from one another since it's not possible for proprietary equipment like KONE and ThyssenKrupp controllers to communicate with each other.

I’ve seen something similar at the Adventure Aquarium in New Jersey. In the main lobby, the setup is very similar to this setup: one elevator is a ThyssenKrupp and the other is a Kone.

It's a new code as per 2019, but not every state mandates it. It's more of a "we highly recommend this!" stunt.

Ok, I do like the bottom drive motor on that TK compared to the EcoDisc. But this definitely is a really weird set up. I feel like the Kone was probably added on, cuz it doesn't really make sense for them to completely rip the old car out while they just modded the right car. Unless there was something horribly wrong with it. But yeah, interesting find for sure.
