Great video! You hit it at the right time. I've fished the canal on and off the past 30 years and there's nothing like it when the stripers are blitzing. I was there in 2017 and it was insane. Getting them on mack and topwater plugs. My favorite way to fish for them. You did well this day. Congrats! I'll be heading there late August early September 2022. Best of luck!

Man I live for days like those. But it never happens when I'm there. Only when I've already left or the day before I got there. Every damn time. I've fished over 20 yrs across the east coast chasing stripers and I can count days like that on one hand. Topwater blitzes with big fish are hard to come by. Many times they're just undersized schoolies just thrashing bait. You were very lucky. And I can't believe no one else was fishing. Unbelievable.

Definitely...Could be part of the problem.This has been the slowest year since 2017,for me.

I also think more fish went around the canal the last 2 years.Boats and beaches were more productive,than the canal for me.
@Ratfink8203 жыл бұрын
@@TroutSpankins Yeah the few times I've been the guys that have been fishing the canal for decades have said it's been really hit or miss the past 5 years or so getting worse every year as well. Going by videos on KZbin from boats on the cape I'd say you are indeed correct on that the bass have been going around the canal. Im located more in the south, my fiance and her family are from up there and everytime we visit I try to fish the canal, I've only ever caught one, but Ive fallen in love with that canal man, If I lived up there on the cape I'd be a bum that did nothing but fish all the time lol. What’s up Trout love the videos bro. I was down the canal last Wednesday evening down at the west end first cast on a savage eel caught a slot fish. The guy next to me pulled a 42” beast. What time do you typically go down to fish early mornings and evenings? I’ve heard that and slack tide is good what do you think cuz I’m looking to go down more I need to pull out a beast this year. It’s so addicting lol

@TroutSpankins3 жыл бұрын
Usually do better with jigs during the day,but sometimes they hit top water,depending on the conditions.
@etv98832 жыл бұрын
looks like they're smacking the lure trying to stun it like how they would do to a bait fish.... that's why you see dead bait fish floating. throw some sub surface baits into your tackle box. you'll still get the surface explosion when the fish comes in to destroy the lure with better hook up ratio.
