Crazy Voith! - It Won't Say "NO" To A Kickdown

Euro 5 Pulsar NL63 VRK (1515) seen here with a Voith gearbox that simply doesn't understand the word no when the driver tries to apply kickdown.

Hey fun fact, i have been trying to find out what gearbox our citaros are fitted with, i'm glad to say after 2 years of research. ZF Ecolife 6 AP 1400B Lol.

+UKBus01 Thanks and they sort of do, thanks to Arriva fitting Econospeed to them the power is tuned down on them. They will still kickdown if you absolutely stamp on the pedal but most of the time they are very slow

+NorthEastbuses01 I do have to say I do prefer a zf ecolife enviro 400 more than a pulsar and I mainly use service 7 and the pulsar should have all just been taken off the 7 and given to the 24

+UKBus01 I prefer these E400's to the Pulsars mind, these are faster and more comfortable and the ride is far superior to that of the Pulsars.

+UKBus01 Personally I preferred it more when they used to put anything they could get their hands on on the 6, it made for a much more interesting journey. Go back a couple of years and you could get a screaming 09 Pulsar, a DAF DB250 ALX 400 or Lowlander or even an epic sounding Dennis Trident. Now the 6 is just full of boring slow Pulsars, even after turning it to Sapphire the buses still turn up two at a time

Im not exactly sure that the driver realy kickdowned it. This Voith might have had a day full of kickdown causing it to be stuck in the kickdownmode. And they tend to make them lovely highrevving kickdownshifts like around 0:20 The part that has me wonderin if the driver actualy uses the kickdown is the first part of the video it changes gear driver didnt put his foot down at all and it downshifted. The first time it went back into gear 2 doesnt sound like the driver puts his foot down either. And finaly the crazy one is a actual kickdown. Driver takes back the trottle and smashes his foot onto the floor. Causing the already failing Voith (software/Computer) to go into panicmode basicly going into Nutral before deciding which gear to get into. Great catch!

+BusThrash basically saying these gearboxes love a kickdown. Doesn't matter how high it's revving it'll always try and give you a kickdown
