In regard to the kids and the iPad. Get a set of earbuds and give them one each. Perfect. We do this if watching tv in the van or outside the van so that neighbours don’t have to hear it too.

Hey Simon & Liz, We can’t wait to get to the Flinders Ranges… potentially on our way to WA next year. The funny thing is I was there 40 years ago doing military exercises and we hated it and our infantry sergeant told us all to stop complaining because when you get out of the Army you’ll pay to come back here… we’ll here we are planning it in 2024… Have a great Christmas and maybe we’ll cross paths in WA.

04:10 A good caravaner, when being followed, will drive as far left as practicable, as is also safely, to allow a potential overtaker to get a view of the road ahead. If you carry UHF and there's a truck up your ass, you can let the truckie know that you'll allow a 'sling shot' on the next overtaking lane. This entails speeding up before the OT lane, the truckie will do the same; then move left and back off. The truck will sling shot past - no more truck up your ass. I have a sticker on the side of my van "you can go fast, but I can go anywhere". My back sticker says "tailgating me, slows me down".
@TheLifestylePioneers
@TheLifestylePioneers Жыл бұрын
I can't say I agree with you on that. Anything that encourages someone to overtake isn't a good idea, even if your intention is to help them out. As you say, UHF makes a big difference and can help a lot, although most trucks prefer you keep a consistent speed to allow them to overtake when safe.

Yer im the same just hang back and cruise never slip stream tho that means you're to close and if a semi or impatient caravaner wants to slot in theres no room , and yer the weather is strange at moment in SA but im hoping its not 40 degrees days over Christmas holidays like the last 3 years 😢

Can you connect 2 sets of AirPods to an iPad? Open Control Center on your iPad by swiping down from the top right corner of the Home Screen. Then tap the AirPlay® icon > Share Audio. To connect the second pair of Airpods, hold the case near your iPad and open the lid. If you have AirPods Max® headphones, simply hold them close to the device. I've never tried but worth a shot. Happy travels and have a happy and safe Christmas and New year.

Totally agree about the overtaking thing …….. because it can put you and your rig in danger . We had an experience when we indicated to turn right into Robe River free camp (WA NorWest Coastal H’way) just before a bridge and a Ute driver came past us as he thought we were giving him permission to overtake ………. So close it was scary and dangerous . Enjoy Busselton over Christmas ,we are expecting warm to hot weather during the festive season . Merry Christmas to you all .

I tow a 2.8T van with a 2020 79 that comes in at 4.4T with the ball weight of the van on. The 79 has a 4495GVM. I have the Armax turbo and power upgrade. Have it on Sport mode when towing. @@TheLifestylePioneers I thought about that. I wouldn’t buy expensive ones, I’d buy 2 sets at a time, and make sure they’re coloured rather than black. I use mine all the time and spend half my time looking for them as I could only buy them in black. A removable tether would be helpful, but I haven’t worked it out yet. Obviously 2 sets of headphones would be the go if you could Bluetooth two, or use an adapter for 2 wired sets. Good luck 😄

I crossed the SA border heading west in Feb. this year, pulled up at the same fruit and veg bin place you guys did. Tossed out the few spuds, lettuce, etc. that I had on board and headed to the quarantine station. Pulled up and the young officer asked the usual "any fruit or veg?" Told him I dumped it up the road. He then thoroughly searched the car and every nook and cranny in the van, then just as he was about done he noticed a banana in the sink.(I chuck all bits and pieces in the sink for travel and forgot it was there) Anyway after being interrogated for 45 minutes in the interview room where 5 photos from all angles of said banana were taken and attached to the 2 page record of interview which was to be sent to HQ in Adelaide where my fate was to be decided. It was like a scene from Monty Python. Just for all to be aware I was told if you have fruit and veg when you arrive at the check point you will be fined. So dump it before you get there. BTW after all that I never received a fine.

Fantastic episode, hope you didn't get to much damage from the emu, might be a good idea to get a shuroo or animal deterrent that stick to the bull bar, will definitely put the flinders ranges on the list to do. What would be the best way across to WA from Alice Springs in June/ July should I go across the Nullarbor or go across the Tanami track. Any information would be helpful
@TheLifestylePioneers
@TheLifestylePioneers Жыл бұрын
No damage at all, we were impressed. I'm skeptical about those deterrents. The Flinders would be a long way round from Alice to WA. That time of year we'd be heading north. We haven't done the Tanami, but it can be rough from what we've heard.
