CRAZY WEATHER STRIKES AGAIN! - Welcome to Croatia

What a week... incredible mountains, awesome food, and beautiful scenery but what on earth is happening with the weather?
With a swerve to avoid Slovenia’s toll system, we hit the Mediterranean with big expectations and yep, it's pretty wow - even us full-timers need a holiday too, don't judge us 😀
What's not so wow is the prices, which are almost on par with this year's crazy storms and heatwaves.

Nice vid Croatia on the coast in the popular tourist region, the camping prices are actually as expensive as you determine. I always stand on the free fields with power points, at the back of the campsite. You still have good sanitary buildings, perhaps a bit dated, but that is part of the cheap price at those locations, you have to walk a little further to the water, but you do have space around you, where you are not on top of each other. Many people who stand in those places also want the peace. After the first week of September, the prices drop sharply, it becomes a bit calmer and the weather is more stable around 25 ~ 28 deg. cl. ✌

Great thanks, yeah we have used those back of site pitches and they're absolutely fine. I understand Croatia has seen record numbers in the first half of this year, and even people who've been coming for the last 20 years say it's by far the busiest they’ve seen it. We will return and it probably will be September, it's just the way our timeline fell this year. 🙏😀

@@TheGapDecaders I will leave next week and will arrive in Vrsar (Koverada) on August 24, stay there for 6.5 weeks until closing weekend. I have a camper wish, but not yet the budget ready, in a few years I will also be roaming in the Balkans with a converted bus camper. Have done it before. After September 9, I pay € 19 per night, then they have fixed prices regardless of the number of people, from the cheapest places. I brought my motorcycle and a kayak. My caravan is already parked there. For Croatia tips, I manage some face book groups about places of interest, you will find them, gives all information and local history and navigation Google Maps points. It is in Dutch but Facebook translates it into their own language.

Thanks Michael, we love P4N but sometimes I just look on Google Earth and think that might be ok, sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn’t. It really depends on the country you're in, last year in Georgia and Armenia you could pretty much park anywhere and nobody would blink an eye, if anything they'd invite you for a drink. 🍷😀

Formally it is forbidden in Croatia for wild camping, but the control is most on the coast in the high season, as soon as you go inland, you enter the unpaved agricultural paths and park out of sight, and leave it tidy again, that's fine, the art is not to stand out and not to stand in groups and not near asphalt roads.

Looks like you had a great holiday in Croatia. I can’t remember when we were last there - years and years ago seems like it’s quite an expensive place to visit now with the cost of campsites a must due to no wild camping. Of course we weren’t in our van back the. Do it wax back backers hostels all the way for us back then. Also interesting info about the thingy for the truck on the road over 3.5t hopefully you’ll get that money back at find point. We’re 4.5 weeks into our van now in Scotland- and settling in a bit more - weather changeable but that’s to be expected in Scotland I guess . Xx

Hi Amanda, so pleased to hear you’re settling in a little and a great place to test the van with four seasons in one day 😀 Yes it's become very expensive here, we've met people who have been coming here for years, and say the costs have changed dramatically in the past two years in particular. Re - the thingy 👍🏻😀, I doubt we'll get our money back but we'll give it a good go.

Hi. Croatia looks amazing & the dolomites were stunning. Good luck with the truck build plans. I'm sure all your experience of living and travelling in one will really help with good planning. For us, we are a good 2 years in but hope to be ready by next spring. We set a budget of around the same amount but have struggled to keep it under mainly down to huge increases in fabrication costs. If I am have a slight wobble about the costs though I just go on line and look at to price tags of trucks built by the big brand European companies which seems to help settle the nerves.

Thank you, the Dolomites were incredible but definitely not for big rigs. The truck build may well go over time and budget, but we'll give it our best go but yes, things cost what they cost. We're exactly the same re brands, how much? 🙏😀

Great video, the weather is so extreme 😮 Croatia 🇭🇷 is fab. We have just spent 5.5 weeks in Greece and had to stay at campsites throughout the heatwave to just chill in the shade 😅
