While I was at MegaCon Orlando 2019 I had the chance to meet Tom Welling who plays Clark Kent from Smallville, Charlie Baker from Cheaper by the Dozen, Nicholas "Nick" Castle from The Fog, Lt. Marcus Pierce/Cain from Lucifer.

I really like Mr. Welling's version of Clark as a kid, discovering who he is and where he came from and what he'd do with his power. I would've loved to see him carry that forward into maturity and today, but we can't have everything! He's private about his personal life, which is what my husband did when he was still acting, to shield our children and I, so I can certainly understand and respect him for his decision and wish more people could appreciate it, too. I mean, do we really need to know everything about an actor we like? No.

Indeed. I would actually be quite "shy" and keep the private subjects and stuff to myself and close family. In the end we're all One Big Family, but we all sadly know there is duality present here... there are always those who would use certain things against you. Personally, if I would've been an actor I would try my very best to show the best qualities that all of us humans can achieve, Spiritual growth for example, and Superman is actually all about alchemy and everyone of us. Going from the metaphorical "lead to Gold" and shine like the Stars/Suns 🌞🌞🌞

The con I went to last year was my first ever comic con so it was a huge deal, not just with meeting Tom (also met John Schneider who was there too). I've got the con bug now, will be going again to the London one this year. 😀

Sad to see some of the Smallville actors having to do cons. Welling could've and should've had a much better career. He stayed on the show too long and must have had terrible agents and advisers. Rosenbaum should've also had a better career.

Why is it sad? They don't have to do them, no one's forcing them. They just enjoy meeting the show's fans all around the world. As do many other successful actors from highly popular shows and films. Smallville resonated with many people and we are thankful for these guys giving us an opportunity to meet them and talk and reminisce about the show with them. Yeah, 10 years is a long time to be on a show, but no one on that show was forced to stay on every year. They did it for the fans of the show. And it also doesn't mean that actors from long running shows can't then continue on to have successful acting careers in other varying roles. Tom took a long well deserved break, but still had small roles in three films between 2013 and 2016. He returned to the small screen in 2017 in S3 of the highly popular show Lucifer. Which I think was a fantastic move for him. Like a step back in that universe but in a very different way. He has his own production company. And sure, some stuff is going to fail. There was a show called Section 13 that Tom was going to star in and produce but it never got picked up. But that's what happens in the acting/producing industry. Sometimes, things don't work out. But Tom is now filming a new TV show called The Professionals. I can see his career climbing up again. :) As for Michael, he's doing lots of different things and enjoying the heck out of it. I think that's success right there on it's own. The only success in life is enjoying it. Not for the fame or money.

@Sunny Ako Yes he's selective, but that's because he chooses roles that he can be passionate about, enjoy it and get a lot out of. I wouldn't call it being picky. I think it's being smart and making the right choices for him. Smallville obviously paved the way for him to be able to do that. And yeah, you might not get to see him on screen as often, but when you do, you know it'll be something special. Look out for new TV series The Professionals he's been filming recently! :)

Participating in fan conventions and selling your merchandise (ex: photos, autographs) there is a great way to earn extra money as a professional actor, especially when you have free time on your schedule.
