I enjoyed learning about Jamaican food almost as much as your parents enjoyed eating it in this video. What a wonderful cook Erika is; she is fulfilling her mission of cooking traditional Jamaican dishes. Everything looked so good, I was salivating just looking at it all. I grew 16 scotch bonnet pepper plants this year! They are SO amazing in flavor! Very spice! So to see him just munching on one! Whoa! The first dish we made was Jamaican curry! I bet they would like it!

The oxtail needed some butter beans for me, but Everything was legit. She represented us 🇯🇲 well. My daughter was born in the United States. I migrated here with my parents at age 9. I was able to take her to Jamaica for 8 years. She says she’s more Jamaican than me 😂😂😂 Like Erica, my daughter is very proud of and knowledgeable about her heritage. Yes Jamaican Patwa started as a pidgin language, but evolved into a creole. I don’t know what inspired you to do this series but thank you for showing Caribbean and Soul Food so much love. (I love Korean food as well.) Much of our cuisine came from a dark time in history when Africans were enslaved and you even acknowledged that at in one of your episodes. But we also have influences from Chinese and Indian indentured servants who arrived in Jamaica over 300 years ago. Koreans and Japanese are more recent residents in Jamaica. God bless you and your family. Your parents remind me of my parents. 🤩 Your dad is a riot 😂😂😂 I love how he loves to eat and I love how your mom relates the food to something Korean ❤🙏🏾😁 My parents returned to Jamaica in the 90’s and that’s why I returned with my daughter in the early 2000’s. It was a wonderful experience for her and I. I got to live through her the years I missed when we migrated. We came back to the US when she was 12 My parents recently visited us for about 5 months (2023) as we had not seen them since 2018 and they finally got to meet their great-children. So I know how much you love having your parents with you. 🥹❤ Thank you for sharing your experiences with other cultures and your preparation of the food and your knowledge shows how much you care and appreciate others.
