If this is your forever home, please hire a landscape architect! It will help so much with not only resale value, but your own peace of mind. This is a big project! They can give you many different landscape designs and make it your dream! Also agree about the fence around the pool, it should be more see through & it would open up your yard immensely!

Designer here, I definitely think the court should be behind the pool instead of right in front of the house. I think some grass & plants with a patio and chairs would look a lot nicer. Also when the pool fence is see through you will still be able to see the court but it won’t be sooo in your face. Just my opinion. If you have the backyard layout i would totally be willing to to draw you a few designs ◡̈.

We hired a landscape architect earlier in our marriage when we were scratching our heads over a difficult yard layout, and wow, am I glad we did!!! He had creative ideas we would *never* have thought of on our own. Lesson learned. Since then, we’ve hired a landscape architect every time we’ve moved in order to plan out each new yard; not just for immediate improvements, but also for projects we could consider gradually adding down the line. Please trust me on this. You want a professional’s eye, input, and architectural drawngs.

Since Aaron knows he wants a big shop/garage, why not just build up and make an apartment or two above it.(possible 2 or 3 stories up) This way you are making use of the foundation already in existence from his shop. Or build more onto the side of it. You can noise proof so it would not bother those living above. Don't go to small or you may regret that. Jamie for one has a lot of things of her own already. It would definitely need a small kitchen and bathroom to be a viable 'single' person living space. Another plus doing this is you all could share a water heater and possibly furnace/ac unit. As well as the sewer and water resources. Good luck in your decisions. There is a tiny home show on tv if you can find it that would give you lots of good ideas. My opinion is not do the RV classified ones as they just don't last and really are cramped. Jaime would never leave. She is not capable probably of living without your help and guidance. Just a few of my thoughts.

RV’s don’t last forever (we’ve had many in our 40 years of RV ownership)and lots of repairs . Reselling a used RV is not profitable. Tiny homes are homes and last longer. They would give your lot an attractive looking little village vibe. Mixing tiny homes with RVs would look like a campground. The idea for the more permanent place for Jamie even attached to the house sounds great for her. The idea of a two story place with tiny apartments would definitely leave you more space would give you room for everything else you want on the land. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision for your family. I’m anxious to see it finished.

For Jamie I think something permanent like building a pool house where the pool gazebo is and build a small apartment above it. I like the idea of tiny homes over a mixture of trailers and tiny homes. Keep in mine what the back yard will look like with a mixture of living arrangements. You want it to look uniform and neat not cluttered with all kinds of places to live. You have to look out on the little settlement daily. I think the basketball court should be in the back so it won’t be close to the house and/or windows. Remove the brick wall and attach a guest house ( for Jamie). The workshop can have two apartments on the second floor. That way your back yard will look put together in case you are looking to sell in the future.

i would consider building a quadplex. Two on top, two on bottom to maximize space. The upstairs two could have small patios and the bottom two their own little backyard if wanted & possible. And this could still leave possible space for a Max's RV hook. To be honest getting renderings done of the backyard just to get of picture of your wants/options is probably a good idea along with landscape architect.

For Max or anyone looking into campers: Please just remember that a lot of campers can be made cheaply. I sold my first home to buy a destination until I moved into my forever home. Trim falls off, mice love living in them, propane is costly and moves quick, water heaters aren’t large, you’ll need to pump out every day or two. Used just means those problems come faster if they aren’t there already. Look for moisture or leaks in slide outs. I’ll answer anything you need about camper life
@Kate-bc7nmКүн бұрын
Edit: just heard Crystal ask if anyone has experience. lol. I do. I’m more than willing to help with what I know 🙋♀️ I weighed through all of the same things 2-4 years ago. Just remember, none of these are permanent nor will they last forever. You can def gut them and start over though! I agree with someone’s comment about the pool house for Jaime. Hers should be more permanent. They call it a mother in laws suite or a butlers house. I built one on my parents land. They’re both barndominiums. 800-900 sq ft and later I finished upstairs without permits for bedrooms. (Not recommending because you COULD get into trouble). Kids change their minds often, I know you know that well lol
@jus.me.tanzks5834Күн бұрын
In my opinion the new campers are more cheaply built so it could be better to go with a used one There is still 20 year old campers around so you would think a ten year old camper could still have 5+ years in it. I’m not convinced that the new campers would last 20 years lol I got a used one and basically redid the entire inside which is good because if anything breaks I can fix it lol. but this summer I’ll need to put a new membrane on the roof and that is going to be expensive. I’d like to do it myself but idk if that’ll be an option lol I’ve seen new membrane and glue on marketplace for $500 twice so I would try to get that and not new from a website for 1k+ I paid to much for the camper up front but i think it’d be possible to find at least a 30 foot bunkhouse camper for 15k and spend 5k on repairs or remodeling, the bunkrooms can have so much potential for office or wash and dryer space lol. if that’s lived in for 3 years per month that comes out to $555. Plus i budget $150 a month for repairs and that’s still less then rent in my area or probably their area. And I hope that mine lasts longer than 3 years so it would just get cheaper per month.
@jus.me.tanzks5834Күн бұрын
Mine has an instant hot water heater which only works properly on a garden hose or running water. It works great tho that way lol. The 12v pump acts weird with it and they added a larger fridge which is awesome and i added a cheap washer dryer combo which I’ll probably upgrade at some point but I didn’t want to spend 1k on one right away and like for max he wouldn’t have to add extra water lines for a washer and stuff right away. I also added an outdoor shower because I have a dog lol. We just had freezing temperatures and a 30 pound propane bottle lasted like 10 days but I had it set at 60 during the day because I work and 63 at night and sometimes I used a heated blanket. Around here propane is about $1 a pound But I also didn’t have time to build skirting for around it and some say that cuts your propane usage almost in half. But even if it’s $125 a month for a few months out of the years it’s still cheaper then renting lol
@jus.me.tanzks5834Күн бұрын
And destination trailers are a more recent thing aren’t they? Like within the last 3 years. They’ve been interesting to look at but they are way overpriced in my opinion A camper can basically be the same thing for a third of the price or less and every trailer will have maintenance

I think Max and Tristan had better ideas about what type of tiny homes would be best. The initial wood ones in the first part of this video were more like sheds where you keep gardening equipment, animals but not overly comfortable for humans. There are some great videos on KZbin showcasing people and their tiny homes.
@jus.me.tanzks583423 сағат бұрын
They can be used for humans but it takes a lot of money. The initial shed can be 20k for a 40 by 13 foot and then you’d spend another 20k probably more to make it a home Plumbing and electric and water hook ups would have cost 5k for me and then insulation if it’s spray foam is probably the same amount. Max said that 50k trailer was more expensive then the sheds but I doubt it actually would be once they start pricing stuff more But that particular brand of destination trailer doesn’t look like it’d hold up well long term The windows and porch are super cool but a used trailer seems sturdier and less then half the cost even if stuff needs repaired remodeled

@Kista-Kool-MomКүн бұрын
Having lived in 5th wheel for several years, I can tell you that it can be a lot more to think about then some can handle. For example, the septic. Do your own research but I've been told you don't leave the septic open or it clogs up the whole system. So you have to pay attention to when the tank gets full and empty it. Even with regular emptying, you have to do major cleaning to it from time to time. ALSO, can't use the regular toilet paper, which bothers some folks. You have to think of the septic as like a porta potty. For those wanting to travel, understand that you are always trying to find safe places to hook up and take care of your trailer. Again, you have to empty the septic tank and fill the water tank. Water tanks aren't big enough to just use water the way you do in a house. ALSO... hot water heaters are typically small, and you don't have a lot of hot water before having to allow the water to heat up again. Don't mean to scare anyone off the idea but these are things I wish I knew beforehand. So just be aware of the lifestyle you are getting into.

If you live in an RV you are very cold if it’s cold and very hot in when it’s hot outside . You don’t have room for anything , you have to move 5 things to get to something you need. The upkeep is expensive. That would be so hard on Jamie.

You’re going to need building permits for the tiny homes. Before you can decide what to do with the recreational list you need to get info to see if you need a certain amount of yardage for each tiny home V plus C plumbing that may be needed. If you put in a court before the tiny homes you may have to dig up court. Our go around

Keep the area directly at the back of your house for an outdoor living area. A place to eat/ cookout and just sit and relax. Possibly add a fire pit. This would be a great place for the family to gather together as well as being an extended living space for the young adults in the tiny homes.

We lived in a portable building after Hurricane Rita. We chose window placement and electric outlets. It was rectangle with lofts on each end. Those lofts were kids bedrooms. Under one loft was the kitchen and bathroom. Under the other loft was two bedrooms. The middle was open and served as the living room and dining. It served us well! Once we were able to get a home we moved the portable building to our land and it’s now our camp. We salvaged what we could from the house to outfit the portable building-cabinets, countertops, toilet, sinks, tub, doors. Best memories. We had ladders mounted on the walls to get to the lofts.

Be sure to block the pool off ASAP after you demolish the fence. If a neighborhood child wonders onto your property, not having the pool properly fenced off could become a huge liability. Also, check the fine print on your homeowner's policy. It probably requires that the pool always be fenced in.

Regarding the tiny homes, I think something more permanent will be better insulated and wear better, especially for Jamie. Love the idea of a second floor apartment above the garage for Jamie, as long as local ordinances allow you to build two stories. I also second all the comments about camper living - the septic and other issues are a hassle! Great fun for part time/travel, but not as a permanent solution. As for the wall around the pool, whatever you do, wait until you have everything else done before dealing with the wall! As dry as it is here in Arizona, and with the wind, all you'll be doing is cleaning the dirt out of the pool while everything else is being done to the yard. I'm with Crysal, I hate dirt. I especially hate how many houses out here have just dirt for front or back yards. At the very least put down some rock or gravel if you're not going to have artificial turf or heaven forbid actual grass (waste of water). A landscaper or designer is the way to go to avoid costly mistakes. Can't wait to see your dreams come to life! Love your videos!

I have looked a lot at the tiny homes. What is most suitable is a pull-behind camper. They offer so much versatility. Regarding Jamie, she might want to move out on her own, and if that were the case she could take her home with her. They are built and ready to be lived in. That would allow more time for other things in your yard and home. Making the fire pit and having the campers around would encourage more socializing. I like the campers as they offer more privacy with the bedroom and bathroom. Also, with Jamie liking to be organized with her clothing the larger closet space, laundry built-in, would be great for her.

1) Think of your main inspiration. What is the color of your home? Barn style home says "Hailee" Will you paint her house the same color? Two homes the same color then the other two vice versa? Are you redesigning the pool? Remember how bad the slide looks? Where are you placing the outdoor apparatice? Could you add swings underneath the cover near pool too? Outdoor play area, pool table etc, make it an indoor porch? Where do you want the noise to be? Will you put down concrete for bike and skating trail? Fake grass, gates separating house area with play area? Will dogs have a doghouse? Dog park? I would close off bottom porch with a clear class surrounding, ceiling fan and swing and garden oasis, or pool table. Enjoy decorating. You still have indoor and outdoor living. Pergula, picnic tables, living room, grill, outdoor kitchen? You didn't list what you wanted to do. That is the first work. Hire a landscaper for sure.

You should work with Yard Zen they’ll design your whole backyard for like $2000! You’ll tell them what you would like and they work up a rendering of what backyard could look like and even tell you what plants to use to make it look nice.

i spent one summer in a tiny home on wheels and some months on one that was on a fondation lemme tell ya since arizona is warm place i doubt there will be any problems and it sounds pretty amazing for a starter up BUUT the tiny house on wheels in Northern European weather got moldy fast and storms were awful since it literally has very thin walls and also vent on the roof where in strong storm hail makes the rain come inside. Plumbing and electricity was also a struggle.. it is cute and for a moment cozy but in a long time there are more problems than comfy living ... in the tiny A type home with fondation tho its was very cute the inside was all wooden with cute fireplace but cold winters were a struggle cuz in the morning i hated to get up to heat up the place so badddd always missed school cuz it took so much time but at least it wasnt moldy and it had a good aura ... i think old school wooden interior is the best thing for special needs people cuz its the warmth feeling and smell the wood gives also perfect for creative people just like me cuz putting up paintings and attaching fairy lights and pictures didnt ruin the wall that much wood is flexible and just imagine green ivy streching down from the ceiling with fairy lights cute silk curtains and a cozy couch with warm blankets and fake fur carpet and drawings and pictures attached on the wall and having smol kitchen next to it with a bed on the loft just perfect!!! it really healed my mental state to be able to live in a place like that for 3 months... Just sharing my experience with tiny homes tho our environments are far from similar we are literally across the world me being in the north and yall in south. Hope ya get to find the perfect solution and also agree with halie u do need to break that pool wall down it is way too high and takes up so much space yall need either organic glass (since u have kids organic glass would be better and stronger than just regular glass) or wooden fence that is with a see through design for safety purposes wouldnt go for metal one since u gon have kids play basketball near there and they can easily get hurt by catching a ball and running into metal fence! ... if ya ever really need tips on landscaping lemme know ( i managed to get bachelors degree in environmental design and landscaping while watching you for yearsss so id be very glad to help ya )

Leave fence until you have the new fence set up with a pool being there you still have a couple still in elementary and a granddaughter to keep safe

Break down the fence. You can put up a see through one to protect the pool

Build the house of your dreams ( fireproof it) . Put a the guest house in the back for a tiny house, a real one with plumbing in the ground, and then the other ones can be self-contained trailers that can be movable. If you build a big garage or something like that, make it versatile so you can have like a multipurpose place something to that effect and get yourself your container put all your stuff in there . While you're doing your makeovers. My cousin has done this many times while she would buy a property, redo the whole property from the ground up and live in a trailer. Also little golf putting area. She has done quite well for herself always buying with CASH for her properties.

I'm just starting this video so I don't know if you already discussed it but what about a track for bike or other types of transport or walking weaved in the entire perimeter of the backyard? It would allow for a lot of freedom for the kids and your future grandkids.

The things to think about are which ones will have better insulation for keeping the A/C in. Which ones are going to hold up being used year round. How much sound insulation they will have. Etc. People in campgrounds have to be extra careful to keep their sounds down because there isn't much sound isolation in campers.

I would not recommend any RV for living. They are not built for that. There is a ton of maintenance and repairs are very expensive, if you can even find someone to work on them. Definitely go with something that is made to be lived in. Cooling a RV would also be a huge struggle where you live! We lived in a 5th wheel for more than 15 years, while hubby worked on the road. Lovely for moving. Not lovely for living in full time.

My favourite was the RV that you wouldn't move much. I can totally see Jamie enjoying that.

The Destination RV's and/or a bumper pull travel trailer would be perfect! Water-50amp Electric- Sewage hook up's would be easier to manage. Now I would encourage you to do your homework on this. There are some difference in how the home runs compared to a regular home. I live 13 weeks at a time in my RV and I do not leave the sewage valve open. I only open it to dump the tank. When flushing the toilet always make sure to flush with adequate water so a poop pyramid does not form. One last thing to consider is installing residential faucets, they are typically made better. I could go on with lots of advice on this subject. 🤣I can't wait to see the transformation of the yard!

Get a landscape designer to help plan the backyard. I understand it might be expensive, but you will get the overall plan with Aaron shop, tiny homes, play are, new pool fence, etc. The tiny home that Max found (the one on wheeks) would be great as they can be moved if needed, and I think that hook up will be cheaper. It looked like there was plenty of room

I lived in a fairly big and spacious 5th wheel in Texas when I first came here, but over time, you can run out of room for odds and ends. I didn't even have kids, and that happened. I ended up buying a house after a while .

Max, that first one was awesome. That's what I would think of when you say tiny homes. If you take down fence, maybe think of adding playground next to it and putting basketball/pickleball on other side of yard and big working garage beside it on that side. Then you could have a great sitting area off of your back door.

I don’t know how many tiny homes you are planning on. However, if it’s the trailer mobile type, they require you to put in some type of a septic system for water and waste.. They’re longer than a tiny home and you’d have to allow yourself exit from the backyard to pull them out if somebody wants to move away.. I’ve camped for over 40 years only in the summer because I’m from Wisconsin and many of the campers that people had they replaced him within a couple years. Everyone was always upgrading a few wanted smaller because their kids weren’t around anymore. You would have to keep the wheels covered during your heat or they dry out because of not being moved. Before you decide, go look at the tiny homes. Good luck to please everybody 🥰❤️

My uncle lived in a ‘trailer’ (we call it a static caravan) home measuring 14 feet x 40feet. It was very well set out and bigger than they needed. Nice home. Also they put a little picket fence around it and a small flower garden to make it home.

I wish I had some input, but I have no experience with tiny homes. I lived in a single wide trailer for a bit. One thing you need to ask about the camper type homes is the flooring. Partial board is used in trailers and campers and when that stuff gets soaked through it bubbles and then caves in.

I lived in an RV for a couple of years and loved it. They are self contained and since on wheels they won't drive up your property tax. Check out some regular Travel Trailers or 5th Wheel trailers with slideouts and you can find lots of options and amenities.

The fence needs to be see through I agree with Crystal, I get the previous owners wanting privacy maybe when they built it but for kids I'd much rather be able to see them swimming.

I’m pretty sure I’m pretty sure that it’s a law that you have to have a fence around your pool. I don’t think that you can tear that down and not put one back up immediately.

Home Depot,Amazon and many other places have tiny homes and you can finish most of the inside yourself after..power,and plumbing installation..can get this way or just the structure/ kit .

Definitely knock down the solid wall around the pool -- a plexiglass (not actual glass since your bball court will be so close to it) would be beautiful and give you safety while also peace of mind when you're back there, but not IN the pool area. Also, be thinking about the issues that might come from having the sport court so close to the house... balls flying at higher speeds, etc. Seems like doing it behind the pool would be best. You could expand the patio/outdoor living space next to the pool and do a beautiful outdoor kitchen instead. Would be great for those Beyond Crazy videos!

Yeah agreed the one with the front porch all the same ones so the backyard looks good they can decorate them inside to their taste but outside should be same so it looks that is part of the house 🏠 order them asap and easy to install plumbing, electric, septic waste.

Here I would do- if I was you, I would put the basketball court at the back so it's not too close the main house and it's looks better. I would also do foundation for the tiny homes, so it would add value to the property and easy to sell. I would build a garage attached to the main house on left, take down that fence with the driveway as well, then build 2 Apartments on top of it. Then purchase 4 tiny homes with 1 Bedrooms or studio apartment design, place them at the back next to the tennis court on the left side. Then move the inground trampoline closer to the main house and do a fire pitch area closer to the main house (facing your windows in the main house). Then replace the pool fence with glass pool fence and new slide for the pool. Paint your house light grey on the outside. Have the tiny houses delivered at least!

‼️ To utilize and maximize your space build an apartment above the shop and just build a smaller home in the backyard. Let’s be real most of the kids will move out and have their own home with their future families. Your home has so much space and with the apartment above the shop and the second tiny home in the backyard is more than enough ‼️
