I propagated alot of s.o.h recently... funny thing is they kept slipping down inside the jar.... after trying over and over to get them to sit half emerged I gave up and put the entire of the strings in the water completely. They kept growing even though they were not exposed to the air..... instead of 2 nodes each string developed huge root nodes the ENTIRE way across the stems.... meaning each stem had about 8-10 nodes. They literally went berserk!! I couldnt believe how much better they propagated being fully submerged instead of emersed I will definitely be doing it that way in future 😁💚

Can you do a video on caring tips for normal string of hearts and the variegated and the comparison
@jackc13204 жыл бұрын
Gorgeous plant! I have a variegated variety that is making some progress but it will be years before it is anywhere near what your plant is! A suggestion to make the entire column lush. Instead of cutting the vines as you did at a given level, wouldn't it be advantageous to trim vines at various levels so as to create more growth points at various levels rather than at the same one? Might not yield as many cuttings at one time but I think it might distribute the fulness and with time, the entire column would be thicker. Just an idea. Going to try it on mine once it starts cascading and using the cuttings as you suggested to make a fuller pot. Thanks for the tips.
@CrazyPlantGuy4 жыл бұрын
Jack C Yes that’s a very good suggestion. Cutting them at various levels to create a more cascading look. I’m actually going to try it as well when o repot this guy this summer.

Thank you so much for this! This video couldn’t have come out at a better time! 3 weeks ago, I purchased a variegated string of hearts and kept it directly on my south facing window sill in my bedroom. My only concern though is that when I first picked it up at the nursery, the newer leafs felt thin but hard enough to hold its shape. I would say the past week the bottom leaves have started to curl inwards and some of the leafs started to get paler in colour, not that vibrant pink it was when I first bought it. The leaves also started to feel very delicate & tender. The soil was dry so I watered it 3 days ago but I’m still experiencing the same curling and tenderness it was before watering. Am I over thinking it? I have a non variegated string of hearts I keep at my boyfriends and just now I’m also experiencing the tender and curled leafs on the bottom, after having them straight and firm since I first bought it almost two months ago. PS love your videos. Because of you I was able to pick up some plants at 21 seven and keep them alive 😄
@CrazyPlantGuy5 жыл бұрын
Hmm If you recently got it, it's possible that the plant is a bit shock from the change of environment. When you got the plant from the nursery was it in an area that got a lot of south facing light?. Also if you have it right close to a south facing window that may be too much light for a small plant, so I would suggest maybe placing it back a bit, maybe 2-5 feet away.
@maeflores70774 жыл бұрын
Hi! I just bought one online because I fell in love with your SOH. I got one that is 5ft long BUT it only has ONE string. And I don't know exactly what to do next to make it look like a curtain (should I cut it and plant it back at the same pot? should I cut and propagate in water first?) I don't want to buy another one cause it's quite pricey and hard to find now. I'd rather be patient and do the long route :)

I love you vibe and videos!! I've had a string of hearts for about 2 months now. I just watered it the other day when the big top leaves got bendy. I've watered it about 3 times total after letting it completely dry out. I adore it and don't want it to die! I know it's been doing well because it has a ton of growth compared to the ones remaining at my nursery, but the leaves are less than half the size of the mature ones and some are curling. Any advice?
@judemda22324 жыл бұрын
same here :(
@jessk63005 жыл бұрын
When trimming the string of hearts, do you cut as close to the node as possible? Or do you cut in between the two nodes (like the long space in between each leaf)? My string of hearts is super long and probably in need of a trim and I've never actually trimmed it before!
