2 years ago I started with 1 cutting with a tiny tuber and 2 leaves. The first few months, it did nothing. After a year, I had one long string which I cut up and propagated. Now, I have a very pretty but still delicate looking, long plant and about 25 cuttings on water. Next year I'll have a lush full plant even though I always give cuttings away to friends!

I am excited to see how this turns out, I bought a 2 inch pot that had 1 SOH cutting in Feb. It's has quadrupled and grown like crazy over this year, you inspired me to do the first propagations of it. I grew them out and planted 8 in tiny pot for my mom, put some back in with the mother plant and waited. Last month I took a few more cuttings and have been watching them grow, soon I will put them in with the mother plant.

I did add additional cuttings too and I’m so proud of her

I’ve been so afraid of my long hanging skinny SOH but yours made me want to try. So I ✂️ it and stuck the cuttings in water. What was left in the pot split in two just like you said for a fuller plant. I repotted and added back and such a fuller plant now.

Very pretty! I think that would be a pretty expensive plant to put together in N. FL. Six inch pots go for about $35-$40, and 3 inch go for around $15. So around $100 to do a full one like that. I'll have to save up for sure, haha.

Great vid and again, beautiful SOH you have there. Just wondering, how do you pot back a propagated string back to the mother plant? I cut some stings, then water propagated and i got no idea how to pot them back to the mother plant. All i can think of is to repot the whole thing :P... or do i just like make a little hole and somehow fit the roots of the propagated string into there?

I am going to try a SOH like yours. I get the perlite and potting soil but cant quite work out what you are saying for the last product please.
@TheMrsStepgirl3 жыл бұрын
If you tend to overwater your plants use a well mixed soil. That is, pumice, perlite, vermiculite, coal, orchid bark, cacti soil and any organic soil. Once I started doing so, I've never had a root rot issue. This might be helpful for beginners.
@CrazyPlantGuy3 жыл бұрын
For sure. Key is just making it more airy to allow water to drain through nicely. I normally would prefer pumice over perlite as they are heavier and stay working the soil, where as perlite over time rises to the surface.
