Now (right before The New year) caviar in Russia is extremely expensive. But right now I'm watching CRD and eat Vobla with some German beer. So I can confirm 99% of these food is authetic and quite popular in modern Russia. e.g. I bought some Alyonka for tee yesterday.

Many of the Russian food items spotlighted here can be purchased from a large American supermarket in Mundelein, IL that caters to the local Russian-American populace in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. They have everything from kvas, to sunflower seeds to pickles to caviar (even Siberian pierogi made in Canada!) .

The problem with the son is that he is still sober. Zakuski literal verbatim translation is “after-bite”. After what a shot of strong booze, usually but not restricted to vodka or five star Armenian Ararat Cognac(if you want to be super fancy). Sacrilege, store bought frozen Pelmeni, foo. There is a rolling forms for making real Ural Pelmeni, a couple dozen at a time. Pelmeni are traditionally made only with meat. The potato, cheese, cabbage, and cherries filled dumplings are purely Ukrainian Varenyky. Both are delicious and were typical Soviet “comfort foods”.

Many of these foods are also made in other countries. Of course, the russian ones are always incredibly fatty. For example, russian sweets contain at least twice as much sugar as other sweets. You see a poor person in Russia, they are not skinny, they are like superfat. The entire diet is built around fatty foods.
@susanaaragorn86065 ай бұрын
Of course they need all the calories to sustain in the winter. They must also have a lot of coronary diseases and diabetes.
@khosmoz5 ай бұрын
@@susanaaragorn8606 Yeah, even in Baltics there are many elderly, who die because of coronary diseases. Pig fat, incredibly sugary sweets and milk products in great quantities. They even make fun of anyone, who refuses to follow a diet like that, calling them wimps and watnot. I have problems digesting concentrated fat, so I only watch. In school the teacher made me eat the fatty meat, and I almost threw up. The problem is real, but it becomes rarer with generation change. Ah, the most horrible practice is using pig fat instead of vegetable oil, when cooking. Or sometimes as a spread on bread. Disgusting!

Бутерброд is an English word. Russians can’t pronounce “butter bread” so they say is “booterbrod” (Бутерброд) 😀 I couldn’t understand the meaning until I learned English.
@kamila19583 жыл бұрын
Само слово "бутерброд" появилось в 19 веке из немецкого языка. Дословный переводится как хлеб с маслом.
@KhZina3 жыл бұрын

Those Russians also mispronounce Броадвей when it is clearly should be pronounced Бредвей ;) - бред
@dorianphilotheates37693 жыл бұрын
The transliteration of the Russian spelling, “Byterbrod” indicates that it is actually directly derived from German, “Butterbrot” and Danish, “Butterbrod” - not English, “butter bread”.
