Love the weedeater string tip, exactly what i was looking for. Unfortunately, after nearly 1 hour, i cannot get that string more than a foot in

Definitely sounds like it’s clogged up I would use some warm water and pour down in it just a little till u can see the water coming out the bottom of the car and just slowly push the string it will push through most leaves and such just take your time not to bust the tube

Thank you very much for this video. I’ve heard about this but needed to see it done and I really appreciate it.. I had the headliner replaced and now it’s happened again now that I know how to take care of it and maintain it. Hopefully this issue won’t be a problem moving forward. Thank you for being slow and calm explaining everything you were doing.

Fantastic video, and your a very creative guy. Wonder if you could give me some advice and answer a couple questions ? 1) why would the water get into the drain trough when sunroof is "closed"? would it be from the rubber O ring drying up ? that seals off the upper outer edge of the sunroof ? If yes, ( likely) do you think that rubbing on some AT 205 - which expands and swells rubber, would this solve the water from getting in to begin with ? Maybe it would, what do you think ? Question 2 - If I never have my sunroof open, but would just like to use it as more or less a window, do you think that putting on FLEX SEAL, or a high quality silicone around the total upper surface edge of the sunroof window, would stop this water from getting in to begin with ?? If I could stop the water from getting in, to start with, then I'd be very happy just using it as a window to brighten up the inside ? I don't think I have the skill to do what you did. I have a OLDS - 2001 Aurora, that never leaked at all, until about 6 months ago and the last time I had the sunroof open to the air was about 4 years ago. Now I know why the inside slider that covers the sunroof window, now has the cloth starting to hang loose, so it looks like water has attacked the adhesive or whatever fastens it to the slider board, that slides forward and covers the sunroof window. Also I had quit bit of water on the "interior" passenger floorboard, and it's likely coming from the drain tube as you describe that drains under the quarter panel. Maybe I'll get "LUCKY" and you'll answer my questions :) The way I see it, if I never open the Sunroof, why not just put on a good sealer, all around the outer circumfrance of where the sunroof glass buts up to the thin rubber O Ring piece that surrounds the "upper surface" of the sunroof window ? The way I'm thinking, is no water is good, so why not prevent it from getting in, because if you don't, it will eventually ruin your interior overhead liner, and cause it to sag down, and you'd have to replace it. Had this happen before. What do you think ? Love to get a reply from you, as you look very skilled, and great video (in Canada)

I have an 03' Z71 Tahoe that has had water in the driver's floor board every time it rains hard. the windshield was replaced last summer and the shop that did it couldn't see any place it would have come in from the windshield not being sealed right. Tomorrow, now that the rain has stopped, I am going to use this technique to see if my drains are clogged. Thanks for the video. I'll come back and let you know what I ended up with. Maybe I 'll have a dry carpet again. It has gotten so bad it has that not quite rotten smell to it so the carpet cleaner will be coming out.

@@crdriscoll1 Tried the weed-eater line deal. Used .095 brand new from Lowe's. I could only get it to go down the tube about 10/12 inches and then it felt like it hit something, this was on both driver and passenger drains. Before I started with the line in the drain, I poured hot soapy (Dawn) into the drain channel (my deflector was trashed, hinges and keeper straps brittle and had fallen apart/I never use the sunroof) and a very little came out the bottom behind the wheel well. No stream more of a steady dripping. Any thoughts?

Rain and leaves falling somehow get trapped in there and if not cleaned out regularly and he leaves will rot then they get into the weep holes

Sorry, but this is not the solution. The first thing is to discover why the water passes to the interior channel of the roof window, if it is closed. And how to repair this. Furthermore, those small water drainage holes, during a heavy rain, are not enough to drain the water that passes into the gutter with the roof windows closed. My question is, how to fix the glass seal so that water does not pass through when the roof window is closed. Nobody says. Why would it be?
@vespertineflora4 ай бұрын
The answer I got from the dealership when I had this problem a couple years ago is that all sunroofs leak. It seems stupid to me too, but there is just apparently no way to create a sunroof that will seal perfectly, which is why these drains exist in every car with a sunroof. It seems EXTRA stupid that they can't even create a drain that doesn't have these clogging issue (why is the tubing so TINY?), or that at least doesn't drain INTO the car when it does clog.
@Nelsondoremi4 ай бұрын
@@vespertineflora I see. Yes, I have understood. Tomorrow, July 4, I am going to seal the roof glass. I'm not going to drive my car during carnivals, much less so. No to the glass on the roof of my car!.
@vespertineflora4 ай бұрын
@@Nelsondoremi I'm also contemplating just sealing the sunroof. In the ten years I've had the car, I've only opened the sunroof maybe a dozen times. It was a standard feature of the trim that had other features I wanted, so it wasn't why I purchased the car, and having puddles of water leak into the floor of my car every so often has been the biggest hassle.
@Nelsondoremi4 ай бұрын
It's just doing the math to invest in new glass. Besides that window doesn't mean anything to me. You buy a new glass that has the rubber gasket melted and stops the water leaking inside. I sealed the glass and no more water entry. Because carcasses are supposed to be for water droplets. And when the glass gasket is worn, you have to change the glass because it comes with the rubber gasket.
@grantp40223 ай бұрын
@@vespertineflora - I totally agree with you. I've only had my sunroof open 4 -6 times in 10 years. If I could seal around the top surface of the glass, that would allow no water in, I'd be very happy. Do you think FLEX SEAL or a hi quality silicone would work ? Did you seal up your sunroof ? did it work and what type of sealer did you use Vesper ?
