All the problems and learning sound so familiar. My own CR-10 S5 printer became almost silent when I replaced the motherboard. The print quality also improved because the motors now move smoothly without sudden and harsh jerking. you can't help but love this machine.

@@teemusalonen8810 Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s great to hear you found a solution that improved your CR-10 S5’s performance. Replacing the motherboard sounds like a solid fix to enhance both the sound and print quality. While I had a challenging time with mine, it’s encouraging to see others successfully tweaking their machines to get good results. Enjoy your printing :)

So I got mine over a week ago. First thing I did was replace the springs with silicone bed mounts, replace the plastic extruder with a full metal one, Does not have the attachment for run out sensor so do not have that hooked up. changed to .06 nozzle. Checked my EESteps, was bad at 92mm, got it to 99.8mm. Leveled the bed (OMG Those little knobs SUUUUUUUUUUCK) Not made for people with big hands. Its so hard to get your hand under there and grip the knobs. Did the auto bed level, checked it and all was good. Printed cube, everything great, printed temp check, found my temp same as my other 220. Printed a few small prints, came out great. So decided to start my Ramikadyc helmet. Started out great first day, second day started making weird clicking noise. Found it was pully in front was wobbly. Everything seemed to be ok, even with the clicking noise so let it go. Helmet was about 60% went to bed expecting it, or rather hoping it would be fine. Woke up to about 66% amazing helmet and still going showing at 72% and a spaghettie mess on top of helmet. So figured id just messure and print top of helmet on one of my other printers, but I had closed out ultimaker and forgot what angle I was printed out, and could not get the exact angle to do it. So wrote company, they are sending me a new pully, but I have extra parts. I replaced pully, checked everything including tension. Started my helmet again. Was printing amazing for first day and half, then started a new job, so have not had time to check detail, work, home eat sleep work home eat sleep. So when I got out to really check it, I found that about 3/4 way up it started under extruding, big time. Checked EESteps again, came out same, checked boden tube, all clear, checked nozzle all clear, even changed it again to make sure. Still underextruding when I started another print. Got a day off finaly, so going to mess with it today to try to figure it out. Only thing I can think of is that bed is to close, and not letting filament come out completly, even after leaving extra room when leveling. Sorry for long post, but yeah this thing is temperamental, and quite a hassel.

Hi Figure Six, good to hear from you, and thank you for the comment! I hear you man, it can be tough. Yes and those knobs are super tiny with little space, and I got big hands too, it’s a struggle for sure. Have you tried the Creality Slicer software? It’s exactly like Cura but with Creality logos. You can try just using the S5 profile that comes pre-loaded in the software. The only thing I change is adding a raft, 0.6mm nozzle, and generating supports with 3 or 5% infill. Btw nice project! The ramikadyc helmet design looks sweet! See if your extruder is clicking too, if it’s clicking then it may be that your nozzle is too close to the bed and not extruding as needed perhaps. You can also try lifting the z-offset in “tune” once it starts printing and that may help. I know it’s a hassle now, and it still feels annoying when looking back at how much of a struggle it was to make this thing work, but it’ll get better. Once you figure it out (if you want to go the distance) you’ll be happy with the results. Huge prints all in one go :)

@@3DTheory Just got done working on it.. The toothed cog wore out after only a few prints. I mean it was smooth where the filament ran. Lucky I keep a box of extras cuz seems to be issue with all my printers. Takes a bit to get them off the motor, but once its done and put a new one on you can adjust hight. So far test print is doing very well. Lookin sweet. My z offset it set at close to 2mm as i can get it. But sometimes have to adjust it up a few or down a few.

Nice catch, and good thing you had some extras laying around. I’m glad it’s working now Figure Six! That’s awesome man :)

So basically get the Comgrow T500 as it seems heads and shoulders more stable and ready than this unit. Thanks for the video.

@@3DTheory maybe they can send you a review unit. The thing is literally a tank of 90 pounds LOL, it's really well engineered. They are having faulty bed issues but it looks really promising, especially for the price.

500mm? God damn, it's a lot for a regular printer, you don't get this kind of volume until reaching something like 4-6k$ for almost industrial one. But it seems like you need a LOT to upgrade right away on buying it, which is fine I think, considering that there are almost no alternatives of this size. But it's not for a beginner for sure.

Hi Joelitotek, thank you for the comment! You got it, here is a link to the files from the sd card that came with the S5. I included the user manual, software and drive, and trouble-shooting folders. Let me know that you got it so I can clear the files :) www.mediafire.com/folder/2lcaaqcijfelf/CR-10+S5+Software+and+Drive

@@3DTheory received. I was looking for the cr10s5 with Cr Touch hex file.. yours didn't have it.. I tried to install the bl touch version from 2019 and my probe doesn't work and z-offset doesn't function on the printer..

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll clear the files now :) I think your best bet is to contact: sale@creality3dofficial.com and explain the issue you’re having and ask for the specific firmware file you need. They will most likely send you the file :)
