Brilliant video, I think I might pull the trigger on one of these. Looking forward to part 2 and seeing how two scans stitch together.

I got one of these (the non-pro model) a few months back, and just haven't had time to put it through its paces. But your introduction is so clear and comprehensive that it surely must become the goto place to learn what the new gizmo will do. Now I can't wait to get my Ferret plugged in. I've also got a recent M1 Mac Mini, so my toolset ought to be reasonably complete. Thanks for the great video. Roll on Part 2!

Thanks a ton for doing this. Very good tutorial, starts at the start lol, IDK how many times I've seen vids that forget to begin with basics and add from there. For anyone maybe reading this I just got the Ferret SE. Differences seem to be NO phone app, pc only which also supplies power-no battery. Otherwise the actual scanner has SAME specs where it counts exactly from what I've found, this info isn't exactly easy to find at a glance. For the price difference its an esy tradeoff for me just to take a laptop if I'm looking to scan outside. Oh and also no nifty carry case but they are a dime a dozen on Temu, actually had an extra sittin around as I knew would come in handy.

I have just got into 3 D printing, been a learning curve but enjoying it. Now I have bought the Ferret pro scanner. Thank you for your précis and easy to follow video on how to use it. I have just turned 78 so it takes a bit longer for things to sink in. Thanks again (nice car) 👍

Excellent video m8, appreciate the transparency of the review. I've had my Ferret since late last year and had almost given up on it. I updated everything tonight and it seems to work MUCH better now. Like you said, it still takes a fair amount of trail and error to get good results, but worth it in the end.

Thanks for the video. How would one of these units go scanning something bigger like a full size motor bike?

Незаменимая штука для тех, кто занимается 3D-моделированием и визуализацией, но не владеет навыками художника и скульптора. Да и цена вполне демократическая для этого класса устройств!🙂👍

What if the object you're scanning needs to have the bottom of the object scanned also?
@BranchusCreations10 ай бұрын
You can scan the bottom half separately and then join the two halves using the software. I'll be covering that process in Part 2.

Thanks for doing the video, Im thinking about getting a ferret for scanning some panels to inspect in 3d. I know that my laptop wont be up to the job, and at some point I will have to upgrade my laptop to something more powerful like a gaming laptop. However I also have to upgrade my smartphone, and that is more urgent as my current one is on its last legs. The ferret pro seems the way to go, I can get a good powerful android smartphone and delay the laptop purchase a little longer. `So this way am I correct in thinking that I can scan using my smartphone and ferret, then export a stl of the object from my phone to my computer by email/wetransfer/bluetooth, and then edit on my computer using meshmixer or similar? I have been practicing some scanning using smartphone photogrammetry apps, and with a few tricks that I have learnt, just starting to get skilled enough to get something that is just about useable, so Im guessing that even with the ferret not being a premium line scanner I should be able to get a better scan than the free photogrammetry apps that Im currently using?

I see the Ferret Pro has a 5000mAh battery while the Ferret has a smaller 4500mAh capacity. Are there any other differences in the actual scanner unit? eg: better optical sensors? They are bragging about having black, shiny, and metal object scanning capabilities now. Is this the same for the Ferret (plain)?
@BranchusCreations10 ай бұрын
I only have the Ferret Pro in my possession, so I can't be 100% certain, but based on the specs of scan volume, accuracy, working distance etc. (and from looking at the pictures) I believe the scanner itself is the same across all three models. The Ferret SE is only designed to work with a computer, the Ferret can work with a computer or be portable with an Android phone and the Ferret Pro can work with a computer, Android or iPhone. In my tests, the scanner would scan virtually anything as long as it's not reflective or transparent.

Have a question hoping you can answer about the software. I haven’t had much luck finding any answers online and Creality email support has left me hanging. I got the new Raptor installed the software on my M2 Pro and on initial startup it asks me for a password for permissions. I enter my admin password and it says it’s incorrect. I tried this on a 2016 Macbook like you and my 2017 iMac Pro and same thing happens on every computer. It will not accept my admin password. Have any ideas what could be causing this?
