But it's not as easy as can be assumed seen this video. You work hard and I'm grateful that you share your passion with us. I won't agree with all your decisions but you are full reasonable with your way of thinking. Different ways with eligible cons. One thing I don't know if you have tried is using IPA on hotglue, if allowed to sit on the glue it significantly reduces the pressure needed to remove hot glue, useful to know on fine electronics like JTAG connectors. Allowing it to sit on the glue for a several seconds can make giant globs of the stuff easier to deal with.
@TomSilver_423 жыл бұрын
Thanks for pretty step-by-step video. 24:55 those connectors do have little metal tongs/springs and cables are inside in tube connectors. Those can be disassembled and reordered so red will be +5V black GND and yellow removed completely. What surprised me is the use of Raspberry Pi WITH that small noisy fan when you put some effort to Noctua funs to make whole thing as silent as possible.

I think it is prudent to get to know the stock machine before making any modifications that affect the operation of the machine, get to know the quirks of the machine, find a good filament, dial in your slicer settings, make sure the assembly of the printer is good and square, especially with semi pre-assembled machines, without doing this when you get a fault the modifications make diagnosing the problem much harder. and when you do decide its time to make modifications do them one at a time so if you do get any problems they will be much easier to diagnose and fix

It is prudent to get to know your machine. I have enough of them that the shotgun approach to mods is not a problem. I ran this machine around the clock for two weeks before I made the mods. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Hello! Great video! Have started planning improving my Ender 5, which I bought used recently. First of is the noise: Does the "ENDER 3 SILENT FANG NOCTUA V2" fit 1:1 on the Ender 5 head - and do you have any recommendations about switching the power supply fan with a Noctua or other silent fan? This fan makes the most noise on my printer. Next up is the mainboard fan and the Pi mount. Thank you in advance. /Kristian

Greetings Mike, Well done my friend. You covered a lot of upgrades that will all be needed at some time. My Ender 5 Pro is in the mail as I type and I'm starting to print some of the upgrades in Sunlu PETG with my Ender3 V2 and was wondering what was the orientation for the bed supports. I'm slicing in CURA 4.13.1. Any tips you might have for the support profile setting would be very helpful. Thanks again Mike for your efforts and sharing them with all of us. Doug

I printed those bed supports in carbon fibre PLA and they are properly rigid. The strain relief for the bed cable was a no brainer. and I'm printing the hot end cable support right this minute! I'm also looking at a bigger print bed, and have ordered a Plus size bed. Only around £15 inc shipping, so I thought I'd get one to see if it's doable.

great video, but you should mention to re-check buck converter voltages after you connect your devices. 5v with no load is going to change when you attach a load to the buck converter causing your voltage to actually be lower then the 5v you set it for.

Hey Michael; great video, sir! I am brand new to 3D printing and my first printer, a Creality Ender 5 Pro should arrive in about 10 days. I'm feeling nervous and excited at the same time. Your suggestion to print things like the bed supports and stress relief parts is a great idea. It will give me something to print while I'm trying how to create and slice my own files. I really love the idea of quiet fans. At least I will not have to do firmware updates. I might be hitting you up with a bunch of newbie questions. Hope you don't mind. Sir, I'm looking to purchase another Creality 3D printer. I have a budget of around $2000.00. Which one would you recommend for a 2 month beginner? I currently own the FLSUN Super Racer, and an Ender 3 V2. The Ender is amazing, the FLSUN is giving me a hard time with the model sticking to the bed. Very disappointed with the FLSUN. That's why I'm going with the Creality printers. Can you please advise to me which one you think I should purchase sir. Thank you for your time.

Thanks Michael. I just got my Ender 5 Pro up and running. Before putting it together, I did take photos of the mother board and power supply to reference later. All posts I have read suggest that you should get the stock product out-of-the-box running before installing mods. Makes sense. My problem is noise....from the power supply/mother board fan. My mother board is a Creality V4.2.2 and power supply is marked LRS-350-24. To tell you the truth, I cannot hear any noise from steppers, hot end fan or anything else beyond the loud whine from the power supply (or motherboard) fan. Any suggestions? On your video, I don't hear any noise from your printer....

Is there a reason why they didn't add 2 - 3 more inches of wires and make it so you can do wire management. Other than that I like the machine lots of fun.
@Kiamors3 жыл бұрын
I had enough wire to feed it through the wire loom cover and run it all the way down to the board it's actually 2 or 3 inches longer than the stock wires.

Thank you for your videos, they've been quite instructive! I see you use Noctua fans for both the hot-end and the part cooling, I was wondering if you have tried lowering the part-cooling fan speed from 100% to 50%, 25%, or even less (normally required to print PETG and ABS) and if it works ok. I ask this as from what I read, the Creality board PWM works by basically turning on/off the 24v to the fan, thus causing the output voltage to lower (so at 50% speed, it should be outputing 12v)
@Michaelinthebackyard3 жыл бұрын
running the fans any less that 100% does not work with the noctua fan upgrades. When I run ABS I do not run the tip fan at all
@PedroLamas3 жыл бұрын
@@Michaelinthebackyard thank for your reply, i have a feeling that is mostly due to the way you've been wiring the buck converters directly to the fan port instead of using an always-connected ground! Check 5:50 here kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWq8qmuFrdSbfas

This is strange, almost the same as people who but pointless stands for PS5's and Xboxes. I seem to see a lot of printed "Upgrades" most of which are completely pointless, and are more likely to cause issue than fix them. Seems to be a American thing more thing. 1. Bed supports, may well help a very old machine, but in reality. The bed needs to flex as when it over runs the filament you dont want it to be solid and spill the next layer. 2. The cabling will never fail if its ran correctly, the solder joints are NOT a topic of concern. 3. The LEC cover isnt needed as its a circuit board not a 1972 apple PC, it doesn't conduct electivity. Like any circuit from 2000 onwards. Unless you find your fingers are metal. So you spent 50 hours printing shit you don't need for any reason basically.
@Michaelinthebackyard3 жыл бұрын
WRONG, All of the upgrades I put on my machine are useful and has made it better. A ridged bed is better than a loose floppy one. Thanks for watching and commenting. I like what I did and that's good enough for me.
