You can definitely look into changing your slicer end g-code to automatically lower the bed to allow easier access

I have this same Pet Rock. I have given up modifying it with components that fix one problem only to find another way for it to fail. I am used to buying products that work! This would be like buying a car with square wheels, no fuel lines, no battery, no windows and no breaks. Endless bed leveling ended in aftermarket beds that were FLAT! Everything from Bowden tubes to the hot end have been replaced sometimes several times, new filament and every type of recommend setting for reliability in the print. ONE small 2cm cat successfully printed in a year! By comparison my Sonic Mighty Resin printer prints everything perfectly. The Ender of printing...

I have an Ender 6 and it works great. I did a lot of upgrades. Revo CR hotend, BMG Extruder, PEI bed. I have a Sonic Pad and added a line to the GCode to lower the bed 350 MM and also extract the Filament once it hits 170C. It pulls it out of the hotend and never gets a clog. I moved the Extruder to the inside so I have a much shorter bowden tube. A cable chain and lights to the inside and a filter system so I can print ABS ASA or NYLON. I use solid bed mounts no more springs and a BL Touch. I never level my bed any longer. New fan for the hotend and a twin 5015 blower for the parts. Thats all it took to make it a good printer lol lol lol.

My experience is about the same. Getting rid of the stock extruder and going direct drive stopped all extrusion/clog issues. The top is too short, but switching to direct drive with a cable chain fixed that issue. I always like the polished look of the machine and ultimately over the years upgraded most of the stock working parts including linear rails on all axes, SKR2 motherboard, upgraded wiring.

@@macdox69 did the linear rails make difference? I wanted to do but I hear people say it did nothing and others love it.

@@nickp385 That's hard to stay since I did it early on and was looking for long term durability more than anything. If I didn't use the printer for some time, the z axis wheels developed "ruts" and caused issues. If I had to do it again I probably would have just went with upgraded POM wheels.

@@macdox69 POM Wheels are better then stock? Also do you have the files to upgrade to Linear Rails on all access?
@macdox69

@@nickp385 POM wheels are suppose to be harder, but seems there is a huge quality different in brands. There are several designs for Ender 6 rails on thingiverse., most of which use the top of the extrusions. I eventually purchased a design off cults3d that use the inner side of the extrusions so no issues with the Creality lid. That design was more work since the belts had to be removed, but it's working very well.

If only there was some sort of machine that would allow you to print covers for the loose screws on the lid....... :) Just kidding, nice review.

Good video thank you Bud. Been using E6 for 2 years, a few of them. Consider Klipper and Mainsailos, turns it into a rocket!

i bought this one in 2024 as my 1st 3d printer. Mostly because of the huge print size and VERY CHEAP price. The stock feeding mechanism is awful indeed. the pneumatic connectors failing too soon... I already found a model what basically converts the stock printer to direct drive just by placing the feeding motor above the hotend. Then had fun to design a filament guide system and already ordered a filament drying box. The top cover just too expensive and not enough tall... but im planning to print some parts what making it taller with additional acrylic sheets.

Just curious if you are still using the printer or if you have moved on to something else. I've had this printer for about a year and have upgraded just about every aspect of it, and it works very well for me... now.

I first bought a basic 3d printer named Flashforge Finder. It printed very well with almost no tweaking. Then i bought this Ender 6 because of bigger volume and heatbed. ITS THE WORST BUY EVER! Compared to my beginner printer, Ender 6 is worse on absolutely everything, except for bigger build volume and heated bed. There is no support for z axis. You had to buy extra parts to stabilize the z axis. There's no wifi. Primitive display. Noisy printing. It is not possible to adjust temperature settings in slicer. And there's no slicer available that has this model. Not even Crealitys own sl8cer!! And the print quality is so bad. Im sure it's some settings somewhere. But you have to set up literal every setting manually. So it's a guessing game and endless test prints.
