I have an Ender 3 S1 and I haven't gotten it to work. First there were temperature alarms, which I got rid of when I loosened the screw of the sensor. After that, the connection always broke in the middle of printing, which still happens a little less often when I changed webui USB 1 -> 3. Now it starts every print in the air, despite countless probe and mesh level calibrations. Really frustrated with the whole device. I expected it to work with the same 100% certainty as before, but much easier than without the pad. Is there a solution to the problems with Ender 3 S1 or should I return the device?

Hello, some help would be greatly appreciated. I seem to be in no way able to make my sonic pad recognize and connect to my Ender 3 s1 Pro. I'm 99% sure I got the 401-Board variant, but I also tried the other one during the flashing process (indeed the old screen freezes as it should only when I try to flash the 401-Firmware). I also rolled back to the original firmware between tests. As I said the original screen is frozen, so the Firmware should have flashed correctly. I also tried unplugging the original display as you said in the video, but nothing changes. I tried a lot of times through the USB-1 Port on top left side, tried with every other port aswell with not success. Every time I reach the "Please connect the printer to the screen terminal USB1 port" I turn on the printer, click next (tried also in the other order) and after a couple of minutes I receive the infamous "Printer is not ready. The host is trying to connect... " message. This thing is driving me mad since I honestly don't want to send it back, but just make it work. Do you know what I could do to resolve this problem??? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I've only been printing about 2 months. I installed the Sonic Pad on my Ender 3 S1 Pro today, had a bit of trouble with the leveling (they have changed the process with the newest firmware, and it was causing my springs to be way too tight), after finishing installation and printing a test print it did print it about 2x as fast as usual but the quality suffered. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and discouraged, I did flash it back to standard firmware and am trying to decide if it's worth keeping for me. Would you say I could print with it at my lower comfortable settings for now while I try to learn more about klipper so I can improve my quality to match faster speeds? I don't care so much about speed, I was hoping the Sonic Pad would give me better quality as well but I think this might have a very large learning curve over just learning different settings in Cura as I've been doing.
@aim6mac
@aim6mac Жыл бұрын
Hi there, sorry to hear about your bad experience with the sonic pad, to be honest, at the initial setup of the sonic pad i do not use the 'knob' leveling procedure as it is not relieable in my opinion, i skip that and level only th z height. Sonic pad could get rid of the ringing issue on some prints but dont expect it to do miracles for the print quality, it's mostly used to KEEP the quality the original firmware has but at higher speeds

Hi there Neil, I dont own a beagle camera, but if that camera can work with windows standard drivers then the chances are great for it to work with the sonic pad. isnt watercooling the hotend a bad idea? it will add more weight to move and also more vibrations?

it kinda is give and take really... It makes the printer silent, also looks good (imo) , less clogs, but yes it does add weight to the hotend but if you use klipper and do input shaping u can get rid of the extra vibration problem.

Hey aim I recently started having an issue with my sonic pad I’m continually getting the key error KEY_298 MCU LOST COMMUNICATION I have tried and tried and tried to figure it out myself contacted creality which didn’t even answer the phone as they don’t have any English speaking operators every time I have called and even explored the dark Anals of Klipper’s discord which they only told me to return the product and download their software with an extremely lengthy coding process instead. My back is up against the wall I really hope you can help me I’d be forever grateful. Oh to clarify the issue is during prints my printer and the sonic pad COMPLETELY shutdown making it to where I have to fully reset everything and the nozzle digging into the print so deep it literally picks it up from off the bed when homing….. I’m pretty upset after spending so much for this thing to upgrade my Ender S1 pro to not even be able to have customer support on the product. Very disappointed and the worst part is I bought 3 more for my other 3 printers before this issue came up and nobody I have found has resolved this issue yet as I was SCOURING Reddit last night to no avail.

Have you tried setting up the Sonic Pad on a E3 V2 with the Sprite Extruder with CR Touch? Upon set up, I chose the E3 V2 ABL for the 4.2.7 board and after setting my z-offset, then adjusting the bed nuts for manual leveling, it proceeds to go to the 5x5 auto leveling and the first row is offset to far forward and to the right, so the probe has no surface to communicate back to the firmware that it encountered a bed. My nozzle crashed into the bed. I also don't know where to set the e-steps or the probe offsets. Is this do-able before setting up the sonic pad? It is all very confusing. I am coming from mrIscoc professional firmware...Klipper is very new to me.
@aim6mac
@aim6mac Жыл бұрын
hi there, I know what the issue is.. officially Creality doesn't support the Cr Touch along with the sprite extruder pro kit. So in order to make this work u need to manually input the X and the Y axis min / max values. Otherwise it wont be able to probe normally.

@@aim6mac I plan to add sort of the same set up to my ender 3 v2 neo with sprite pro extruder and cr touch. I might even add dual z motors and filmaent runout. @@aim6mac Question: are you sure it is a bug that the Y-axis resonance test happens with the accelerometer on the print head. To me it is logical that the resonance be measured at the point of printing. Why should we care what the resonance is at the corner of the bed -- surely it still gets the relevant information to measure it at the print head? Seems unlikely that Creality just forgot this entirely when they went so far as to provide printable mounts for the accelerometer. Have you seen or heard anything else about this?

For your resonance test why would you be concerned about moving the sensor to the bed? You should only be concerned with how moving the bed in x and y directions causes movement in the print head itself this that is where the accelerometer should be located. Moving the sensor to the print bed provides no useful information about how print bed movement affects the x or y deviation of the print head.

Probably you got connection problems with the printer first time around, because you did not use the dedicated USB port designated to be used by the printer as was pointed out in the manual, and the software was waiting for a response on that particular port. That port seems to be a v3.0 port, while the ports on the side are for future upgrades and (as far as I understood) v2.0 ports. After not getting the response I guess the stofware starts scanning the other ports (I'm just guessing here). Removing the display does not make a difference, because it's not longer used. I get it that people want all gadgets to be self explanatory and all, but sometimes reading a manual at least once (if only for the starters part) makes life a lot less complicated... 🙂 Anyway - This device seems to be very interesting. Especially because Raspberry Pi's are very difficult to get at this moment, so a "traditionally" klipper setup is not doable. I certainly going to buy one, once it will become available in my country (that should be around mid December this year).

@@aim6mac I did watch it from start to end. As you probably noticed, I was talking about the initial connection problem. Of course you got it up and running later on as expected (and I give a plausible explanation why). I was in no way criticizing you, but was looking for answers. Anyway - I hope Creality will indeed upgrade their software to correct that faulty acceleration test. I think a lot of inexperienced users will get the impression that all is fine, while they only got a one-axis result. It's a PITA you have to do that second axis test manually, but until that problem is solved there is no other way. Lucky enough it does not have to be done often (only when changing the bed surface to something else).
