Sir, I am a huge fan of the very large cars from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Roughly 2yrs ago, I picked up a ‘70 Buick Electra 225 Custom 4 door sedan w/ 72,000 miles. It needed and still needs work which I am doing on my own. I’m 62 years old so not working as quickly as I used to. Plus keeping our daily drivers on the road. I have missed your videos, wish you could put out more. Your LeSabre is stunning! Please, if you could, put up on YT all that you’re doing or are going to do to this car. I for one would greatly appreciate your efforts. Like yours, mine still has or had many of the OEM stickers, spiral shocks and yellow paint (inspection) dabs on the upper and lower ball joints, springs and other locations. While I’ve rebuilt many a lawn tractor, tiller, leaf vacuum and motorcycle carburetors. I tackled and successfully completely rebuilt the original OEM Rochester 4bbl. My first. Very pleased with the results. Anyway, like I said, I really like your channel, your work ethic, knowledge and especially the many Buicks you’ve worked on as well as the other content on your channel. Longer videos from you are very much welcome. Thank you, RustyFuryIII from Spotsylvania, VA

Thanks for watching! YT content creation is a tough one for me lately....hard to find time, and quality content.

I enjoy the videos. I would look for the Magnum rims Buick used back in those years. My Granddaddy Lott always drove Buicks, the last on he had was a 1992 Buick Regal. I’ve become somewhat of a Buick fan myself, although I have always liked the Chevies. My wife has a 2012 Buick Enclave and we had a 2007 Buick Lucerne before it got totaled and the insurance companies wouldn’t do anything to help us out. I know those Buicks ain’t the same as the ones of yore, but they are nice for what they are.

I would work with me dad (helper) whenever he worked on our cars years ago. I learned to always look out for the elusive vacuum leak when ruling out reasons why the engine has a slight stumble. I remember one engine had a small occasional stumble that had us stumped. Rebuilt the carb, no that wasn't it. Ended up changing the intake manifold gasket - yes , that was it - there is were a small vacuum leak. After new intake manifold gasket and proper torque - Engine ran smooth as glass. One thing I learned to remember is that things loosen up over time (re-torque bolts), may have better gaskets today, sealants are definitely better. So, may seem like a lot work, but any old engine I run into, I redo intake manifold gasket, new vacuum hose, rebuild carb, new plugs, wire, rotor, points. Get that all done first, then set dwell timing and fiddle with idle screws (if necessary). Some things have to be ruled out first in some sort of order. Refresh ignition always and everything, not just wire or plugs or this or that - do it all. Some guys just fiddle around here and there and there needs to be a plan and approach. Nice car!

What a fantastic find! We had a 455-4 in a 73 Electra 225. Same color, blue with white top, blue interior. More upscale, but much the same. Sounds better with the new muffler. So glad this one is in your capable hands!

No "road" wheels! Keep the hubcaps on that time capsule!

The hubcaps are okay on this one. I say that because it's not a hardtop... it had a B pillar. The brown 71 LeSabre would look good with Cragars.

Hi from Sydney, Australia. Great to see this original car, some don't like these late giant GM cars, but I love them on the cusp of the old and the new, I like their drivers cockpit styled dash as well, & their smooth fuselage body sides. One of the cars I own is a '72 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. I bought it in 1991, then, and now it still has the GM tags on it. GM USA shipped here CKD Kit car sets(completely knocked down) shipped here to QZ' to be built as a right-hand drive car, plus there are a host of other differences too. A one owner old lady's car, in 1991 it had a mere 17,900 miles on it , now has 133,000 miles on it , but when you pop the bonnet (hood) or stick it on a hoist, it looks like it's new in the engine bay and on the underside of the whole car, zero rust, pristine GMH-A painted the whole chassis in a heavy gloss black paint, all our old school Aussie Holdens had heavy, thick, soft tar paint on the body underside front to rear, same with my Aussie built Cadillac. Pure quality that has stood the test of time, an early 1972 car, as it was registered and on the road in Sydney NSW, on 6th Nov 1971. GM Holden's Aust offered just two US based models to choose from the 1971 to '73 Buick Riviera in RHD form, or the 1971 to '74 Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams in RHD. After July 1974, GMH-A offered the 17-foot 6" Holden Statesman Caprice which used a great many components belonging to the Fleetwood Broughams so creating a virtual mini-Cadillac of our own, lavishly trimmed coming TOTALLY fully stocked, with a mere two option choices, a sunroof and ABS brakes which were the Cadillac ones same as fitted to my Fleetwood Brougham. Our Aussie Buicks & Caddy's had ZERO anti-pollution equipment with export spec' full power engines, so when you put the foot down the '72 Fleetwood the jumbo block engine hammers to life, it's Cotillion white with creamy-white vinyl top and a pale green interior called "green ice", a wolf in sheep's clothing. It came from the GM-H factory in Pagewood, Sydney with unique RHD right side exhaust manifold and factory dual 3inch diameter stainless steel exhaust 4 mufflers & 2 resonators abject performance & total silence. Good luck with your overhaul & upgrades on the Buick, a lovely car and terrific condition, the few niggles will easily be rectified unlike troubleshooting and correcting 2023 cars electronic nightmare's!

I had a '72 as my first car in 1985!! Everyone thought it was a 350 because it wasn't a Centurion or Electra!!

This 1971 Buick to me was the best styling of the big Buicks at that time. My parents had a 1967 LaSabre and a 1969 Buick Wildcat. Although I loved both cars I love this styling better. In 71 and 72 my parents took a bresk from new cars and in 1973 bought a 1973 Pontiac Luxury LeMans for my brother who was graguating from High School and going on to college. The next new car my parents purchased was a 1975 Toyota Corolla, my mom wanted to try out a smaller car. So, the next Buick they bought was a 1978 Buick Regal. Baby blue at that with a darker blue vinyl top. I thought that was the most luxuriant car i had ever seen. The styling was A1 awesome. The styling of autos back then was so much more fun and exiting than now being these new cars are so boring except for the Mustang and Camaro. Maybe a couple of others. But the last Buick my Dad bought my Mom was in 1988. He bought her a brand new 1988 Buick Regal. Sadly my Mom died in 1989. Never got to drive the new regal. She was to sick. My father loved my mother so much he wanted to buy her that regal thinking that would make her feel better, he did whatever he could to give my Mom something to look forward to when she was cured or ehen she felt better. Unfortunately she didnt get better and passed away in Feburary of 1989. I dont mean to make everyone dad but I thought I would share that story since it was pertaining to Buicks. Have a beautiful day everyone. God Bless!

My father was a Buick man. When I was very young he drove a 55 Special. 2 tone pink and white. It's my favorite from the 50s. Later he had a '59 LeSabre, 66 Electra, 70 Electra Limited, 72 Electra. Then he went Cadillac. They were okay but I didn't like any of them from a cool point of view.

Kinda odd optioned? AC, no tilt no power windows and a power seat, AM radio. Beautiful color combo. I assume the 455 is a option upgrade too? Glad to see Simon ❤️

Cascade Blue is right, My parent's friends had a 71 Electra Limited in the same color combo, my parents had the 71 Olds 98 LS in the same color and combo. they always bought The Buick we had the Oldsmobile. we had a green 77 98 Regency, they had a green 77 Buick Electra Limited, we had a gold 66 Vista Cruiser, they had the 66 Buick sportwagon.. It was a joke among their friends by the 1980's My parents and the other couple turned 50, and here in The South, if you were a GM person when you turned 50 you bought a Cadillac, which they did. but my parent's enjoyed their Oldsmobiles so they bought the bestlooking GM sedan of the 80's the 84 Olds 98 Brougham. it was nicer than their friend's SDV. anyhow that was the last Olds they owned, and after GM dropped Olds, no one in my extended family owns a GM product.

Adam, in your opinion, do you find that the pillared sedans like this LeSabre have more wind noise at highway speeds than the hardtop sedans such as the Centurion. My dad always preferred the hardtops. Said they were quieter on the road.
@antiqueautomotiveservice
@antiqueautomotiveservice 5 күн бұрын
I don't have much experience with the pillarless hardtops in this body style. I actually thought the pillared car would be quieter. I can definitely tell you they are a more solid ride.
