Cream Puff / Gotokuji Temple / Sensoji Temple (シュークリーム / 豪徳寺 / 浅草寺) | Tokyo, Japan | October 2023

Hello fellow ticket holders. Join us as we make it back to Tokyo and start exploring the largest city in the world. In this video we start our day traversing from Kawaguchiko to Shinjuku via the trains. Once back in Tokyo, we drop our bags in a coin locker and make our way to Shiro-Hige’s Cream Puff Factory (白髭のシュークリーム工房), the home of the Totoro Cream Puff. After tasting this iconic treat, we make our way over to Gotokuji Temple (豪徳寺) the cat themed temple. Next, we grab an amazing Gyukatsu lunch from Gyukatsu Iroha (牛かつ いろは) in Ikebukuro. With our bellies full, but tired of the rain, we make our way to Asakusa to check into our Airbnb. After a quick Airbnb tour, and some needed rest, we make our way to dinner. But before getting to our dinner destination, we pass through Sensoji Temple (浅草), one of Tokyo's iconic temples. Finally we end our evening with dinner at Amairo (浅草 天彩) a local tempura restaurant and a browse in Don Quijote Asakusa.

Oh goodness, that _is_ a rainy day! 😂 Glad that you made it safely back to Tokyo with minimal disruption and/or delay. The train stations are so weirdly beautiful! Love all the hidden Totoro’s in the cream puff shop. TIL that the “beckoning cat” was an actual entity with an actual name and not just a very popular desk totem 👀 The AirBnB definitely gave off some college dorm room vibes haha my freshman dorm looked almost identical actually. Although, I didn’t have a roller coaster outside of _my_ window. Sorry about the Ramen shop, but it looked like tempura dinner may have wound up being even better! Sounds like navigating the Japanese train station is a lot like navigating a plane change in a Chicago airport 😅 But a heck of a lot prettier! I can also see how the puffs might have been disappointing given all the hype, but it was most assuredly worth going out there just for the atmosphere haha the temple shopping area still looked super nice after dark, even if all the stalls were closed. Hope you all were able to snag that historical coaster credit, in the end; maybe we’ll see that in a future video 😁 Great vlog!

yes, the Maneki-neko is more than just a decoration piece. It was interesting learning later the legend of the temple with the cat. I can see what you are saying about a college dorm feel of the Airbnb, though I wish my college dorm room had regular walls and not cement block walls and a view of a rollercoaster. The Tokyo train stations are on a whole new level and using the smaller stations the whole time prior, they do not prep us for the large ones in Tokyo. I'm traveling to Japan next week and I'm also planning on going to Gotokuji temple and the Totoro cream puff cafe! It is supposed to be raining for most of the days we're traveling too :P Hoping we get lucky haha!

Ok the Totoro cream puffs were the cutest thing ever, but how did they taste? Sorry it was so rainy but the temples and places you visited looked gorgeous with the rain. Love Venessa taking a nap while Chad does the room tour 😂 Tempura soft boiled egg 🤩 Edit: oh no the Totoro pastries were a letdown 😢. Glad at least the creme was good.
