I love the way these look, especially those feathers! I haven't seen anyone do this with those. I have kitties who love to play with the Christmas ornaments and borax is toxic for them. I've heard that you can do the same thing with salt and sugar so I'm going to try that this year. Just a heads up for anyone who might not know that yet.😯☺️

Ooo, let me know if the salt and sugar turns out!! Mine have slowly crumbled over the years. I want to try something that'll last longer!! Thanks so much for watching. Take care 💖 🙂

It's so fun!! I would try to seal them up with varnish or some type of clear sealant, they crumble over time. Thanks for watching. Happy crafting 💖🤗

I know, they turned out really cool. I think I have to seal them though, some crystals are coming off, but then again you know me, not so gentle 😄

We did this at least ten yrs ago! Mine didn't last long but my mom still has hers! She wraps in a paper towel then a baggie to store hers in the house.

Great idea! Would sealing them with clear acrylic spray help to hold the crystals better on the branches etc?
@creartivebynature2 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I would definitely try that or use a thicker substance and brush it on!! This was quite awhile ago, I would want to try it out again and use your suggestion 😉 Thanks for watching and your suggestion Laurie 💖

These are beautiful! and I CAN confirm that 20 Mule Team Borax is an old company - probably used by your great great grandmothers, I DO warn you that while the company ensures it is safe, they do caution for you to use as intended (as a cleaning agent). And clean it certainly does! It removes stains like nobody's business! However, if you google it, you will learn that "If a young child ingests as little as 5 to 10 grams of borax, they may experience severe vomiting, diarrhea, shock, and death. Small children can be exposed to borax through hand-to-mouth transfer, especially if they play with slime made with borax or crawl around the floor where pesticides have been applied." My own family has used it for years to get rid of pests, bugs and roaches! (Make sure you sprinkle it behind your appliances where children and pets have NO access! For this purpose, it works GREAT!),. But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what you have made and I do think I will give it a go, however, I will do some more research before I decide to let any little folks join in on this project!!!!
