Great video. Question for you...when you demonstrated that nice decorative neckline stitch, you stabilized the neckline, then did a zig-zag stitch around the raw edge, then folded under 3/8 before beginning the specialty stitch that you selected. Could you have simply stabilized the neckline then folded under 3/8 and sewed the specialty stitch without doing the zig-zag stitch first?

Hi TaDarling! Thanks for the comment and question. The stabilizer I used needed to be secured to the wrong side of the neckline with the zig zag stitch to hold it in place as a first step. Then I needed to trim it as a second step. I find it's a bit tricky to sew something very narrow to the neckline edge so I sewed first and trimmed second. I hope this helps make sense of the process.

I loved your video on fleece jacket sewing. My trouble is sewing the pocket into the seam. I did this on my serger, and got the fabric caught in the needles when I serged over the thicknesses where the pocket is. The cutter didn't work as it should, I am sure it was operator error, but, It was a mess, and I broke a few needles trying to make this work. I finally decided to use my sewing machine, and not have the pretty seams. Help!!!!

Thanks for the compliment! I'm so glad you mentioned the apron class in Baton Rouge. You brought back very pleasant memories! About the blouse, I purchased the blue line blouse and then added the cutwork embroidery. The designs are from the Anita Goodesign Butterfly Cutwork collection. I used a sheer poly organza behind the cutwork to prevent anything showing through. To embroider the pocket I removed it and then added it back. Last but not least, I added decorative stitching with my Brother machine. Happy sewing and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment :-)

I have trouble with my presser foot stretching thinner knits too much. My machine doesnt't have an adjustment for the presser foot pressure. Is there another trick to avoid over stretching the top fabric as you sew two pieces together?

Yes, it's called a "walking" foot. The walking presser foot moves backward the same as the feet below the fabric do.
