What a workshop! I like how he did not abandon her after 1 round of tiny improvement but made a genuine effort to get her to learn and I also like that he asked everyone what their priorities were in order to give them as much value for their time as possible.

To answer her question, you can increase power without focused muscle contractions with "miming" so if I put my hand on an imaginary wall and give that imaginary wall a push for a split-second, that will look powerful even though I did not think about squeezing any of my muscles. Likewise, if I imagine there is a wall and I hit it, if I can hit that wall convincingly, that will be powerful and I do not need to think too hard about my muscles or anything but especially if I can hit it on beat then people not only see the wall, they hear me strike it. "Recoil" is another word to think about if you are not seeing any improvement in your "miming". If I just push my palm forward, there is no wall. The wall only exists when my hand comes back after attempting to push. Recoil. But like Nick said, none of it matters if you are off-beat and some moves that have no speed or power can be very impactful, like a very slow clap that catches the beat with perfect timing. Another example would be if a krumper gathers energy very slowly before unleashing it. If they are a good krumper you will feel that power even though they are moving slowly and there is no speed, no recoil etc.
