Dear André, these are all very valid points, of course. The one that speaks to me most, is number 5. I believe that you can learn all of them with enough training; except grace. Grace is much less a skill than it is a value, hence a mindset. And, I believe that many brands and shops undervalue this. It takes people with a certain capacity to carry themselves with grace that enables them to actually CARE for the client and for their employer. If I had to choose between mindset and skill I always would go for mindset. Skills can be learned (with the right mindset). I agree with Peter Drucker who said: “Culture eats strategy for breakfast”.

Brigette - Thank you for your lovely comment. I agree with the essence of all you have said, with one caveat. Encountering the right mentors, colleagues, friends, and family I learned to turn away from cultural conditioning that was present and discover the grace inside. I believe this is what many could benefit from, today. It is more challenging to mentor and guide, because there is such a dominant cultural message in the opposite of grace. However, luxury in all its channels can benefit from more of what you offer personally in helping those with the right kernels inside, grow into what they could be -- grace included. In other words, we should continue to define, expect, and train. There will be gems that emerge. As always, a delight to exchange ideas with you.
