Hi Paul, I and no doubt many others around the world truly appreciate the time you spent planning for and recording this video tutorial. I can happily say that I have followed your video and not only I have just created my first pop up knowledge check within a slide (which I am over the moon about!), but I also have a much clearer understanding of using advanced actions. Thank you, I look forward to your next video and hopefully working with you in the near future.

Thanks for the video, Paul. This so much easier with groups and states than it used to be.

Agreed. This probably sounds like a cliche but Captivate 9 is the best version ever. I mean that in the sense that while I might have said that about Captivate 8 or 7 at the time, I still could imagine interactions that I couldn't figure out how to do within those versions. I can't seem to find the limits of what I can do with Cp9.

I know exactly what you mean. My eyes went all glassy when Captivate 7 came out. Other than a few minor growing pain issues (which are to be expected), the product gets better and better. I'm doing things know I could only dream about a few years ago.

Hi Paul. Great tutorial. I follow all your posts. I have one question on this pop up. In captivate we are able to include pop ups slide for videos with bookmarks. Is it possible to assign a slide as pop up for another slide, specifically for non video slide? Thank you.
@CaptivateTeacher4 жыл бұрын
You cannot use a slide as a popup for another slide, but using this tutorial as an example, I think you can see how you can use this faux popup not just for knowledge checks but just about any content. The beauty of Captivate is that it really is a blank canvas that is only limited by your imagination.

Great video Paul. Question: What exactly does enable/disable answer button do? Is it like turning the variables off and on?
@CaptivateTeacher8 жыл бұрын
Using the disable command will turn off the ability for users to click on a button. Enable will turn that functionality back on. You want to disable a button once a user has completed whatever task you're having them perform.

How do you split your screen so your screen share is there AND we see your web cam with you in it at the same time?

Magic!

No just kidding. I use a software called Adobe Presenter Video Express that allows me to do this.

Hi Paul, thanks so much for this! I've hit a snag though, and I just can't figure it out. I am trying to create the "Change the State of" action for my answers, but they are not appearing in the drop-down menu of the advance action screen. They do appear when I create the "Assign" action. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? I thank you again for your time. You have helped me so much with these tutorials!

It's difficult for me to know what you might be doing wrong. I believe this video was made with Captivate 9.0.2. You should be using the same or newer for this interaction to be compatible. Again, because I can't look over your shoulder took see what you might be doing differently, is hard for me top say. Watch the video again and see if there is anything you missed. Best of luck.

Yes, people are still looking at your videos, six months old or not! I have a question: After the correct answer was submitted and that advanced action was triggered, you locked out further changes. However, the mouse cursor was still the "hand". Wouldn't it reinforce the lock-out condition by NOT changing the cursor to the hand when they moused over the answer blocks? Is it an option to change (or keep) the "pointer" cursor upon submission of the correct answer?

Steve K I'm unaware of an action I could use in the advanced actions that would change this parameter. You could submit this as a feature request on the Adobe community and earn points toward free copies of Adobe eLearning software: eLearning.adobe.com

Ah, interesting. Thanks for the fast answer and thanks, as usual, for the vast amount of information you've given us!
