Awesome this is something I've never seen before people doing it and can you tell me how to make it into a audio visualiser where these particles/distortion bounce/react for the audio plsssssssssssssss

Decent tutorial, easy to follow and didn't rely on any 3rd party plugins!
@BARofLUNCH7 жыл бұрын
Hey Caleb and RocketStock. Just want to thank you for making this video tutorial, I second the comment posted about not needing 3rd party plug-ins to make cool content like this. Also, is it possible to use this technique on other footage, not just footage of one's face? (I was thinking of applying it on something like footage of a city to give it a cool, digital feel) Thanks again

Is it possible to sync the waves to an audio file?

i second this information

There's is a Bass&Treble effect to generate keyframes (values) from your audio file. Search "after effects bass and treble", and you are a few simple steps away from accomplishing what you need.

awesome thanks alot!

Don't just use Bass & Treble, use Convert audio file to keyframes. This depends on what you want. B&T will only work for mid and low ranges, Convert audio works for Channels and overall volume/amplitude. I think Convert audio is much more reliable. You can sync audio to any effect that's able to use keyframes. Import your audio into the composition, right click on the audio layer, Keyframe Assistant > Convert audio file to keyframes. This creates a null layer with three slider controls (Right channel, left, and center, I typically delete all but center) and numeric values determined by the volume of the audio. To make it easier to work with, go to Window > Smoother to open the Smoother panel, highlight the Audio slider and use Smoother (.5 to 1.5 range works best for me). Now you have only the peaks and valleys of the audio instead of frame-by-frame values. This slider control can be pickwhipped to from any effect to instantly sync. Could be waves, could be scales, opacity, literally anything you want. Depending on the numeric values you get, you may have to create an expression (say you want to keep it near 50 and your audio files range from 0 to 20, my expression would be x=(pickwhip to audio file) and below that value=x+40, alternatively if you want to ramp up the effect, try the same x=audio and x*2 or other multiplications).

Wouldn't let me set the End Width on the Stroke for the Radio Waves to zero. Kept reverting back to 1 no matter how many times I tried. Any ideas why that may be? Doesn't seem to make a huge impact, but still wasn't sure why it was doing that.

LOVE THIS! thanks for this one.. inspiring!! i wil try next.. I would like to know if you did it on a video file or a picture? example: was the talking ( video) we see in the first minute recorded ahead of time and then all these effects/steps done to that video? or did you do it somehow to a picture. save it and then place that ( idk) effect on a video? seems like the video of talking ( in the beginning) was recorded first/ without effect and then this tutorial was placed on it.. thanks.. i hope that makes sense..

Hey! Great tutorial. I am doing a VR project with DepthKit and needed to pitch a proof of concept and this tutorial worked great as a 2d cheat. A note from a VFX veteran for future ref: the word "plate" means your raw source image and that's it. In this case your plate is the closeup you imported into AE. if you use the word to apply to other effects element you're doing it makes thing confusing. i learned this the hard way, it can make things confusing! Anyway, great work!
