Having launched my own channel I was looking for ways to improve the appearance of my videos and being an Apple user, and using FCPx, motion seemed the way to go. Had no idea how to use it and so was looking for a specific tutorial on intros when I found this. Yes, Dylan does talk fast but he packs a lot of really key information into a short space of time. I used it like a step by step guide, pausing the video and copying what he did. The end result was a really professional looking intro. The only thing I couldn’t figure out was how to remove the grid lines from the framing section, but eventually found it (hey, you can’t be spoon fed EVERYTHING!!). Great video Dylan - have liked and subscribed and will definitely be back for more! Thanks.

Hey man, thanks so much for creating this tutorial. I have an issue when using it in FCP, when I drop it in top of a video, towards the end the mask goes again to the first frame of the video below it, and when the element of the logo is over it skip to where the video actually is now. Do you know how can I fix it so it's actually in the same frame of the video that is transitioning to?

Can Motion 5 do anything more complicated than that? Using Morphing, Liquid Logo Animation, for example. The arrival of one object to change the other. And still can't import an entire illustration layer by layer from Illustrator, only single color shapes?

Yes Motion absolutely can do more than this! I have several tutorials on complex VFX shots, sky replacements, creating entire plugins. This video is about as basic as it gets for Motion haha! For illustrator files, while they can’t be imported directly, you can buy Pixelmator pro that will open illustrator files, and they can be exported to Motion as a Motion Project. it will retain all of your shape data, and separate layers. Thanks. Replicated it - tough work as sometimes moving an object made an additional animation - probably a hidden keyframe. But fun all the same.

The keyboard shortcut A sets it to a mode to automatically add keyframes every time you move something. Sometimes I bump that key, and it just creates a ton of random keyframes I never intended. That might be what you ran into!
