Dope! Just got this device today and I was hyped to see you made a video on it. I was actually featured on one of Inner Ocean's compilation, Futures Vol. 3, in 2017 and JUST found out he had made this. I really love this. The new version has 60 seconds of loop time!

And for the rest of us, there's a VST plugin called Portatron which seems to match the Oceans device feature for feature, as it also emulates a portable 4-track cassette deck. Except for recording - Portatron won't do that, you just feed it samples.

Nice vid and music mate! How would you say this device differs from using Abletons stock simpler or sampler? Also im heavy into modular samplers so eager to try this out in my eurorack 🎛☕️💅

I guess it’s halfway between what you’ve already mentioned a sampler and a modular device. It can handle 4 elements at once (unlike Ableton’s simpler) but it’s downside is it’s time limit of only about 8 seconds. This can give you a limitation that I find actually breeds my creativity, so not much of a downside depending on how you like to work!
